  1. Hybrid rubbers how close to Tacky Chinese or Grippy ESN spring sponge?

So, I was thinking that a list of Hybrid rubbers and where they sit in relation to Chinese tacky rubbers (CTR’s) at one end of the scale and grippy ESN/Spring sponges at the other end would be a good idea. criteria such as amount of bounce, tackiness, general feel etc This would give an insight...
  2. Expanding your rubber?

If you want to go all out gadget geek, there are gluing presses/clamps available!! these, when used with a strong glue would probably hold very domed rubbers in place until dry.
  3. Expanding your rubber?

Yeah, agree with Sam, different sponges will react differently and possibly the top sheet also has some say on this. So a softer elastic rubber may allow itself to stretch more than a harder rubber top sheet.
  4. Xiom Tau II

Tuesday evening I played with Tau 2 on a Primorac all wood blade for a 1 hr practice session with our coach. I got on very well with this set up, found it easy to use after mainly using Acoustic inner with Rakza Z recently. Topspin was pretty consistent and heavy spin, the ball is really dragged...
  5. Xiom Tau II

PS - I’ve used the Revo no 3 glue to glue domed rubbers, yeah weighted down for 30mins or so. But the de-gluing process is great!!
  6. Xiom Tau II

If you can get it, try Revolution No 3, I think TT11 sell it, there’s the option of 3 viscosities. Normal, medium and high. Go with the Normal to start with. there is a marketing vid out there, which is great. It’s a very good glue, strong, but for me the main advantage is how easy the glue can...
  7. Tried my Donic Appelgren All+ today

So, as an update, I played on Tuesday evening and used one set up which was the Primorac (all wood) with the Tau 2. I practiced some more with the Viscaria T05/19 at home and decided to swap the rubbers T05/19 is now on my 30+yr old Grubba blade!! One thing that really jumped out regarding this...
  8. Identifying the Magnus Effect in Table Tennis

Cheers BB, So the bounce could have an effect? Which could also be affected by the tables surface finish? Skid or grip ?
  9. Identifying the Magnus Effect in Table Tennis

Hi BB, Regarding the axis of spin, initially is this set by the bat angle and orientation of the bat at the point of contact? Does the axis change as the ball travels through the air? (Regarding balls with side and top or side and backspin rather than those with ‘pure’ top or backspin which...

Hi Which glue do you use?
  11. Suh Hyo Won vs Sister Hyo Young - lose each game gets punishment

Yeah, I was wondering what the ..... this guy was doing!! Ratings would have soared if the girls had doubled teamed him, choked him out and chucked him out!!!
  12. Viscaria

Not sure they do!! It’s a very popular blade regardless!! Higher level players have the ability to control and use this blade with either Tacky Chinese rubbers (usually on FH) or spring sponge / ESN rubbers on BH. Viscaria has a reputation for pairing very well with Tenergy 05 on the backhand...
  13. Backhand rubber for forehand short pips

I have a couple of the Primorac Japan blades, very nice blades!! what don’t you like about the MXP on your BH that you are currently using?? Do you twiddle between rubbers? Or just use the short pips only on FH? Have you asked your coach what they recommend? As your coach knows you better than...
  14. How to make flared handle close to a straight handle

I usually use flared handles, but the old Tamca 5000 handle is a straight flared handle, so not ‘concave’ I really like this type of handle but they are not really that common, having said that the std concave flared handles are fine!!
  15. Tried my Donic Appelgren All+ today

After practicing this afternoon, I couldn’t bring myself to take off the T05/19 from the Viscaria until I’ve given it a go with my coach on Tuesday!! So it’s going to be Acoustic inner Rakza Z and the T05/19 Viscaria!! Got pre-conceived ideas what will happen, but who knows!! Still think...
  16. Viscaria with H3Neo and Skyline TG 3 neo

Hi Latej, good to hear from you!! Run down below on what I’ve been up to!!Boosted them with 2 layers Seamoon, but put them on the Acoustic, still felt a little hard, maybe could have done with a 3rd layer of booster!!!?? Compared to the H3 Neo provincial 37 degree and Skyline 3 provincial blue...
  17. Tried my Donic Appelgren All+ today

Hi, my level of play at best is intermediate!! I quite like the Viscaria(x2) / Zhang Jike ALC (x1) blades, I generally used all wood blades. During the various COVID lockdowns to help keep playing I’ve been trying quite a few rubbers and blades, but only recently bought the Viscaria’s and the...
  18. Tried my Donic Appelgren All+ today

Great to see you are getting on well with your Appelgren!! I’m about to take T05 and T19 off of a Viscaria and put them on an All-round blade, to see how they play.
  19. Which rubbers for stiga offensive classic?

Hi, After playing with a damaged blade, especially if the handle was partially cracked across the handle, including the ply part, then any undamaged blade is going to feel stiffer in comparison. Adding to the hard feel is the T05, which is harder than the T05fx. The SOC isn’t a really fast...
  20. VIS or Timo Boll ALC

Hi, Any chance that you could give us some more info about yourself? How long have you been playing? What sort of level do you ply at? That sort of thing, maybe even some footage of you playing. What is your current set up? This will give the forum a better idea of what to recommend. Regarding...
