I just think if Ma Long, Fan Zhendong, Xu Xin and Zhang Jike were never introduced to table tennis and took up a different sport like basketball or badminton, the top 3 players in the world would still be from China.
I have often wondered this question myself, if there were no Ma Long, Fan Zhendong and Xu Xin would China dominate everything. I think the answer is yes they will. Players on the tier 2 squad in the China National Team will get more opportunities to play internationally and gain the experience...
