  1. Watching pros makes you better, and we should watch women players

Btw not sure if we should make that comparison but at what male level could the top chinese women compete? Top100? Top200? Retired pros in their mid 40s (like waldner)?
  2. Watching pros makes you better, and we should watch women players

So because they have less bat speed their loops would be too slow so they use a more flat hit to still get a decent pace?
  3. Watching pros makes you better, and we should watch women players

Do the top women on average play a little flatter and less spinny then the top men? I'm no expert but it looks like it to me, especially on the backhand side.
  4. Do counter and drive hits have spin?

Does the hitter control the spin (how?) or is it depending on the incoming spin? So basically I don't have to worry about a light spin and can just hit it unless it is a heavy spin?
  5. Do counter and drive hits have spin?

@suds I don't think that in the video is a topspin ball, right? The racket starts above the table and not pointing down in the takeback like in a normal topspin.
  6. Do counter and drive hits have spin?

Thx. Im talking about this hit Can you hit that with no spin? Btw do pros even use that anymore? They always seem to do that in warm up but rarely in matches. Why is it even practiced and not just played topspin right away?
  7. Do counter and drive hits have spin?

What kind of spin does a counter or drive hit have? Are they like a knuckle ball, depending on the incoming spin or still a little bit of topspin always? I'm not good at reading spin yet and while I can see it on a clear top or underspin I can't really see it on flat hits.
  8. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

Does my bat play a role for the spin. I have a ready made tibhar bat (I think the rubber on it is called "volcano" or something. Could that prevent me from using a lot of spin?
  9. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

I think spin is much more important in table tennis, right?
  10. Is trying to play a defensive/chopper style under 2000 USA basically worthless?

Btw I think most pro choppers only chop with the bh anyway and play a topspin with the FH, so you can play a modern defense style with fh attacks and backhand chops.
  11. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

Sorry if this is stupid but who is kjh?
  12. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

Thx, so leaning forward I will try. Also try to stop the follow through earlier in front of face. Btw freitas said that the shoulder of the hitting arm should be lower than the other? Is that correct?
  13. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

Thanks for the videos. Is that better? Tried to finish more in front of face and lean back less.
  14. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

Basically playing like twice a month mostly hacks. Play more other sports. But better technique probably still would be better.
  15. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

Yes that follow through really takes too long, if the ball comes back fast I'm not ready to hit it. In tennis that really wasn't a problem since the opponent is like 20 meters away. Thanks for the videos, so basically the racket needs to be stopped in front of the head?
  16. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

Here is a video of my forehand against a self made return board. Is that played wrong? It is relatively fast but I think it only has like mild topspin and is relatively flat trajectory.
  17. Tomokazu Harimoto Tribute!

Wow he is so good for his age. Btw is it a disadvantage for him that he is exposed so early? The chinese coaches will probably study him a ton and in contrast to that the chinese hide their young players so that they come up rather suddenly and the other players can't study them. So when...
  18. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

Definitely sidespin on that massive bomb. Is the shot Süß demonstrates also sidespin?
  19. Forehand loop internal shoulder rotation

I found this video by Christian Süß demonstrating that tennis like windshield wiper finish. He even calls it windshield wiper in German (tennis players also call the technique like that- before the 1990s tennis players also hit topspin low to high and the windshield wiper came with the...
  20. Changing from Penhold to Shakehand

Thanks, great find. But he didn't really use it regulary in competitions, right?
