  1. Is double inverted the most viable setup to play?

Rakza PO max sponge on the FH. Razka X max sponge on BH. Yasaka Ma Lin Soft Carbon blade.
  2. Is double inverted the most viable setup to play?

I'm going to be somewhat controversial and say that the most viable set up for modern table tennis (at least the men's game) isn't double inverted. Instead its a fast a spinny SP on the forehand and an inverted on the BH. Mattias Falck might not be the best player in the world, but I believe his...
  3. Comparison of UltraMax Rubbers

Not really answering the original question, but I've tried a couple of different max plus rubbers, all in a relatively hard sponge (circa 47/48 degrees) and I've found that within a week or two of playing they really start to feel quite soft. It's like you have to go a few degrees harder with a...
  4. Rubber Thickness?

Tenergy 25 is pretty good at blocking
  5. Is the time right for Tenergy 25?

I've been reading up a bit recently on the so-called "new style" of table tennis that has developed since the introduction of the plastic balls. From what I can gather, the new style of play is characterised by staying a bit closer to the table, taking the ball a little earlier, and focusing a...
  6. Letting rubbers "breathe" before sticking them on (in order to reduce shrinkage)?

Letting rubbers "breathe" before sticking them on (in order to reduce shrinkage)? Hi Guys, I've seen a posted on you-tube which suggests that you should leave new rubbers out of the packet to "breathe" for about 72 hours in order to allow any shrinkage before putting them on the blade, rather...
  7. Change of stroke with the 40+ ball

What I take from that is that with the 40+ ball your need to drive the ball forwards more so that the blade finishes more in front of your rather than higher up near your forehead. The game is less about brushing the ball these days and more about driving it with speed. Of course we're still...
  8. Where can I buy?

What are you searching under on aliexpress? I can't see anything
  9. Where can I buy?

A sleeveless table tennis top. I've only ever seen Harimoto wearing one when he played Ovtcharov at T2APAC 2017. Amy ideas?
  10. Pips v inverted on FH

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good youtube videos showing the difference between playing normal inverted and short pips on the FH? I'm watching Mattius Karlsson at the moment and really like his game style, but I'm struggling to see any difference between how he plays his forehand...
  11. 3/4 size table?

They make tables that are 3/4 (75%) the size of normal tables. This is the one I was looking at: https://www.table-tennis-tables.co.uk/shop/indoor-tables/knight-indoor-table-tennis-tables/gallant-knight-cadet-3-4-sized-1160670.html
  12. 3/4 size table?

Looking for advice as to whether there's any benefit in training on a smaller table? I train on a full size table a couple of times per week at my club, and currently have a full size table in my garage, but its a bit too cramped and a 3/4 size table would fit the space better...but I'm worried...
  13. Slightly Confused!

Did anyone else watch the men's commonwealth games final and notice the shirt that Aruna was wearing? On the back of his shirt his name was spelt "Arunna". What's going on? Surely they wouldn't make that sort of typo...and surely if they did the player wouldn't wear the shirt in such a competition?
  14. Smooth Short pips?

Can anyone tell me if there are any short pips that don't have ribbed pimples? I've seen a few LP's that have smooth pimple tops (although most are still ribbed from what I can see) but I can't seem to find any SP's with smooth pimple tops. I'm working on the basis that a smooth SP would tend...
  15. Training drill for first 5 shots

But isn't winning the point on your serve the best possible scenario, and therefore worthy of the best points? Wouldn't the perfect table tennis player be one who had an unreturnable serve? Surely the premise behind the 5 shot drill is to promote the idea that we want to score the point as early...
  16. Training drill for first 5 shots

Yes I did think of that - you'd probably need to note the scores on a piece of paper after each winning shot.
  17. Tall table tennis players.

Chris Doran is very tall; 2 metres I would guess, maybe a bit more. Take a look at him play when he stands close to the table - the table only comes slightly above his knees! https://youtu.be/QHfWDNdJbxw
  18. Training drill for first 5 shots

As we know, most points are won quickly in table tennis within the first 5 shots of a rally. I was having a think about training drills that focus purely on those first five shots and came up with the following drill: 1. Each game played to first to 21 points with two serves each. 2. Points...
  19. Recommend me DONIC rubber for backhand please

Ive just put Donic Bluestorm Z2 on my backhand and it seems quite nice.
  20. Gluing rubbers when glue is still wet?

Most glues instruct you to wait until the glue on the blade and rubber have dried before fixing the rubber in place, but does fixing the rubber when the glue is still wet - and then leaving it to dry - also work? Would doing it this way create a stronger bond?
