  1. 19th Asian Games Hangzhou

What an amazing match betwen Hayata and WYD. Almost as good as the one earlier this year. Quite a rivalry between these two and I wouldn't mind if they played each other every week. Think that was the best match of the tournament so far (at least that I've watched).
  2. 19th Asian Games Hangzhou

You're right that this China focused. I'm watching this great Hayata/WYD match and the commentator hasn't praised anything Hayata has done. Could be the most spectacular rally or finish for Hayata and all that comes out of her mouth is disappointment. It's bizarre how biased this broadcast is...
  3. 19th Asian Games Hangzhou

Thanks for the stream but I wasn't expecting half naked guys in speedos. Did you intend on posting this in the "what are your other hobbies" thread?
  4. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I have the same sponge I think. Donic? I've washed the sponge with regular liquid hand soap and the blackness came out and it looked (mostly) like new again.
  5. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

I also just tried pulling apart the baby oil treated LAC rubber cuttings. One light layer left out about 20 hours. Instead of every pip having some sponge attached, some of the pips failed before the sponge did when pulled apart and came off with the sponge. This doesn't necessarily mean that...
  6. 19th Asian Games Hangzhou

What's the story behind the Kihara/Harimoto pairing and Nagasaki being now paired with Hirano? I remember watching some TV Tokyo interview with Kihara/Nagasaki just a few months ago where they're remembering their gold medal performance at World Tour Grand Finals. Seemed like there was a lot of...
  7. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

I'll try putting one layer on some of the cuttings and see how that changes the crumbliness of the sponge. Maybe we can just keep experimenting with different oils/boosters and see which one seems to make the sponge less likely to tear. If it's just a matter of finding the right one to extend...
  8. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

Maybe it doesn't matter. The only thing I can think of is that maybe some sort of light treatment or booster can be used to make the sponge a bit more supple without putting anymore stress on the sponge. Maybe someone with good chemistry knowledge can weigh in on that.
  9. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

After playing around with the the rubber cuttings of LAC and Loki Rxton 5 (which are listed as the same hardness by Loki at 41d), my opinion is that the issue with LAC is with a crumbly sponge and not due to weak glue. When I peel Rxton 5 sponge from the topsheet, the strength of the sponge...
  10. Why are top players sometimes hitting a forehand with the left foot in the air?

WCQ is pretty easy to understand since he's selling out to get maximum power by pivoting to get his lead foot far forward. His FH is hit while he's literally jumping forward. This is going to sacrifice recoverability since he's now in a terrible stance for lateral movement should his opponent...
  11. Experience with some other Loki rubbers - Arthur China, GTX Pro (inc)

For anyone wondering, I measured the Loki Arthur China 41d (41d was printed on the sponge) with a Shore O durometer and it measured 51.5d. Unfortunately, I forgot to measure from the sponge side before gluing.
  12. Moon 12 Blue on sale!

For those curious about the hardness of Moon 12 Blue M+, I just measured it and it came out at 49d from the rubber side and 46-47d from the sponge side. M- was 46d from rubber and 45d from sponge side.
  13. I Played Vs Olympic Champion Jan Ove Waldner

Appreciate what you guys do, @Dan and the rest the TT Daily Team. 🙏
  14. How to play against Hyper-Aggressive player?

People are going to have different hook serve technique, but if he serves like Coach Meng in this video, then you can watch the contact point on the rubber. Closer to the top tip of the racket is topspin, and closer to the handle is backspin.
  15. Schlager video describing Glayzer, Glayzer 09C and Rozena

You may not realize it but Xiom Vega Intro is 47.5d and just as hard as Vega Pro. It's not a soft rubber at all. Also, the recommendation for Chinese learners is a FH rubber generally no less than 48d. This is ostensibly for the purpose of developing a brushing contact. With a harder to engage...
  16. European Team Table Tennis Championships 2023

Moregard going to Plan B with a lot more offspeed blocking against A. Lebrun which he sometimes pulls out when he's losing. Usually it doesn't work out well but it's keeping him in this match. This ETTU teams championship has been peak so far this year in terms of atmosphere and excitement...
  17. Sanwei Fextra 7

Older Fextras were known to be faster and stiffer. The Fextras I've bought off Aliexpress have all been in the lower to mid OFF- range (1313-1333 hz). So it's not fast at all if you don't use fast/bouncy rubbers. I've used Yinhe Mercury 2, Loki Rxton 5, 729 Battle 2 Pro, and Loki Rxton 1 Plus...
  18. European Team Table Tennis Championships 2023

Guy is very fun to watch. Along with Moregard, he's one of the Europeans I'll always tune in to watch. I think it's a perfect scenario for him to cost his team a potential run at the ETTU Championship in order to get him to chill out a bit. It's one thing to embarass yourself, but letting down...
  19. Top 10 best-selling inverted rubber and blade in Japan August 2023

It costs $40 in Japan. It's just an entry level 5.7mm 5-ply. Cheaper than a Falcima. It's not even listed for purchase on the Butterfly website in some markets (like the US). Not something that would catch the eye of an EJ.
  20. European Team Table Tennis Championships 2023

Team Sweden eeks out a win against the Hungarians. Karlsson had to save 3 match points there in the 5th set in the decider to do it. Good to see an exciting matchup like that on Swedish soil with a big crowd on the edge of their seat. Really puts recent WTT international events to shame on...
