I will refer you to the rankings. You can argue with the rankings. https://www.ittf.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/2026_2_SEN_WS.html
  3. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

Han Ying is float chopping Chen Yi down.
  4. From what level on does the right "modern" style matter?

That's a bit misleading IMHO (which is why I pointed out the Jorgic issue, so it was clear that he couldn't even win European titles because of this instability issue). His WTTC silver came from a skewed draw. Now his game is more rounded so we will never fully know. My point is that lacking...
  5. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

Here we go again. By your logic, all Europeans are overrated. She is the highest rated of the overrated. And she beat Shin Yubin. She beat Doo Hoi Kem. She is doing fine.
  6. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

One match does not a level make, I think you are being a bit unfair to Dang.
  7. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

    I can play penhold, I am a penholder ;)...
  8. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

Felix too good. Can Harimoto compete?
  9. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

I was surprised it went 5, the gap in fundamentals was larger than that. She has posed some serious questions to Winter, will be interesting to see whether Winter has any answers (not that she needs them in Europe unless Pavade becomes a beast and Polcanova can replicate).
  10. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

You sound like another poster here but I think you are much better informed. If we take your thoughts on power to the extreme, shouldn't pros be using the slowest equipment because of how much athleticism they have? It doesn't really work that way. H3 is an acquired taste and is for people...
  11. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

Looks like game 2 already says the gap might be too much.
  12. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

So this is the kind of match Sabine needs to win to get into the top 10.
  13. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

Manav will be fine - sometimes, you need to get into the rhythm of a match against a player who tries to take it away from you.
  14. Lin Yun Ju not using his own blade?

He may have bought it from the store to test. Or maybe he hit with some else's blade, liked it and then just borrowed it lol.
  15. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

No we don't, it's just what the pictures say. The rubber is Zyre, the blade is just based on looks.
  16. From what level on does the right "modern" style matter?

Remember that he has an unstably bad record vs Jorgic. It's not an accident.
  17. From what level on does the right "modern" style matter?

Thanks for this. Anyone can compete today with any style. Winning world titles and Olympic medals is a completely different story because players go into preparation cycles for such events and then you have to combine unfamiliarity with stability/consistency and to some degree get lucky...
  18. WTT Champions Doha 2026 Jan 7-11

Harimoto is playing some of his best TT with Zyre as is Togami. Ultimately you find what works for you. No free lunches in TT. That LYJ is willing to try SALC and Zyre speaks for itself. https://www.tabletennisdaily.com/forum/topics/lin-yun-ju-not-using-his-own-blade.38698/post-559011
  19. From what level on does the right "modern" style matter?

That's true for just about every style at the top level. Even the "backhand" players are superb athletes. Viability is not the issue for an Olympic Champion, thriving is The point is not just athleticism, the point is whether the one-sided penhold can withstand the rally demands of the...
  20. From what level on does the right "modern" style matter?

They are lefties and use pips. Neither is accidental to their success.
