Its because you close the racket and hit the ball from the back. Open the racket slightly more and hit the ball from the side while still finishing forward and adding topspin. It will give you more contact time and more room to add power and spin. That by the way doesn't guarantee the point...

Most of the players on the U15 team will not turn pro. Many of them will go to financially safer careers. Heck even players with real professional level talent often don't go truly pro - Nikhil Kumar and Sharon Alguetti come to mind. Those kids had others competing with them at the junior...

Nothing wrong with taking the ball late but you don't get drive timing that way. And sometimes, the brush is too much. You can use thicker contact for sure.
