  1. Is Chinese TT just going to go downhill from here?

People forget that up until the arrival of the plastic ball, Ma Long was very susceptible to spinny and consistent backhand attacks if you could control his serve and attack game. And you are right, ML never really played XD, you would have thought Ding Ning and he were a natural partnership...
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Played a tournament this past weekend. I was unable to play in the morning because of family obligations, so I missed the U2250. I was seeded out of the first round of the 1950 and played some doubles matches under U3500. We played a team rated 2400 while we were over 3300 and won 3-0 with...
  3. Quarterfinal Loss 2-3 in First U1100 Sanctioned Tournament – Please Share Pointers

I was actually at that tournament lol. For an U1100 match, that is impressive.
  4. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

And to his backhand as well. How many times does the master of backhand countertopspin struggle to counter spinny backhands?
  5. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

That's an interesting interpretation. I don't see it at all. I hope you are right and I am wrong.
  6. WTT Contender Almaty 2025 Sep 2-7

Too many landmines in this event for Honoka, the draw will be important.
  7. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

Yes, it is a mission for some players, but it is not the case for many of the local players. Local players get a chance to play an event and get international points. And some players may want to travel to those far away locations. More events gives people choice. People can always choose...
  8. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

There are likely some offsetting advantages - easier for some players to travel to those locations, ability to get funding at those locations. Maybe if events were only held at TT Meccas, we wouldn't have that many.
  9. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

It's a shame for sure, but I am mixed between wanting more TT and having events held only in places where TT draws a decent audience.
  10. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

If WCQ destroys you 4-0 at a late stage in an event, good things are in your future. See Harimoto and Truls. Who's next?
  11. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

How someone can watch that and say that was the play of the world #5? I blame Gauzy...
  12. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

Something to work on, something to work on. You can't build Rome in a day, no matter how hard you work. Everyone has gaps. How you shield and protect them is what keeps you hard to beat.
  13. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

Yeah but I think with the crowd he would have handled all those guys. He played at that level.
  14. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

Yes the statement was made before he won those things. I just find it sad that people continue to pretend these young players are not working on their games. If anyone told me that the day would come that Truls would get LinDhifong to block/counter backhand openers off the table, i would have...
  15. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

Both players needed more time and opening into a Truls counter could loae the point instantly. I don't know what you were watching, that looked like a world #1 to me who just struggled with thr home crowd advantage of his opponent but showed why he has the heart of a champion. Truls had to...
  16. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

Amazing way to end the match.
  17. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

One of the worst world championship silver medallists of time and a guy with a game the Chinese team has solved just won a grand smash. Well done.
  18. Europe Smash Sweden August 14-24 2025

Truls needs to win this game. This is the best I have ever seen Truls backhand. A ton of hard work. Still not the modern textbook but extremely effective.
