  1. Dignics 80 vs Hurricane 3 Neo Provincial

I have played against players using D80 and have watched two respectable channels (TTD is one of them) review it. I struggle with the idea that there is something that makes D80 obviously worse from a spin perspective vs D05 and on the flip side, it is faster which means a shorter stroke has...
  2. Hurricane 3 neo

These are all true in context but are not absolute and sometimes cannot be discussed insightful without looking at a specific player, strengths and weaknesses ans relative level. Timo Boll clearly brushes too much as one example. What has that done for his game? His high arcing topspin style...
  3. Hurricane 3 neo

To be fair you are both making different points. His point is more that there are people for whom training may not make a difference to their overall level (the nature argument) and you are making the point that no matter your physical (and possibly mental) condition, there are ways to get...
  4. Dignics 80 vs Hurricane 3 Neo Provincial

D09C is sticky so that is what determines/reduces its spin sensitivity on some shots but without the stickiness, D80 would be less spin sensitive. A lot of it depends on how you play, you aren't going to be trying to push all kinds of serves short with D80, its not the rubber for that, but if...
  5. Dignics 80 vs Hurricane 3 Neo Provincial

There is technically less spin on high power strokes but what that means is an open question and given the backhand stroke is very spin oriented usually, having a less spinny rubber on backhand is not a bad thing as it supports a smaller stroke getting both spin and speed (easier to accessthan...
  6. Dignics 80 vs Hurricane 3 Neo Provincial

My opinion is that you should try D80. I played two players who used it on backhand and I really couldn't tell the difference with D05 from their attacks. But everyone has told me it blocks better, and I could see that from the warm ups with one of them and the trajectory is slightly lower. So...
  7. XIOM C55 Impressions and Comparison with H3N

There was a guy who used to play GT on both sides when I last saw him. Then at the club yesterday, he was using J&H C55 on both sides. Didn't notice any major difference in his play.
  8. Dignics 80 vs Hurricane 3 Neo Provincial

D05 is spin sensitive for sure, but only if you are extremely passive. With just a modest amount of activity, it plays very well, unlike say Tenergy, where you have to be precise. But if you are coming from 09c, once you adjust to the lack of tack, you will get a lot out of the rubber, both on...
  9. [WRM] The "breaking" backhand and other types of topspin backhands

Nice theory but really isn't true, definitely in my experience. There are two aspects of Kaitai, the first is the basic Kaitai (brushing backhand), and the second is the breaking backhand, where you use Kaitai to form a mountain around the ball, and it is this mountain forming technique, which...
  10. Hurricane 3 neo

I strongly endorse this post and argue that technical stability and the ability to find range in technical stability is more important than equipment speed when you are learning. What it means to swing hard changes in meaning as you get better and play people who put more quality on the ball so...
  11. Dignics 80 vs Hurricane 3 Neo Provincial

Dignics 05 (and the Dignics sponge in general) is highly underestimated as a rubber in many respects. While it isn't sticky, it actually plays closer to Hurricane on pushes when compared to the usual ESN fare. And the need for speed out of short stroke, especially blocks and pushes, should not...
  12. XIOM C55 Impressions and Comparison with H3N

I couldn't use the Tronix ZGR, the ball release was too quick for me, but I don't boost... maybe I should have played with it more and it did play fine on a slower blade... but it was also very heavy... I did order a sheet of C55 with my batch of skyline 3.
  13. XIOM C55 Impressions and Comparison with H3N

Exactly, one can use sheets to cover even the newer versions and make them more tacky if tackiness is what is desired. I like how they play when they are less tacky so I haven't done so.

  15. 27th ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championships 2024, Astana, 10/7-13

The tournament is soon after the Olympics and the very top players will likely need rest. At the very least, I wouldn't be surprised if the Olympians don't play. WMY and WCQ possibly but the result, unlikely.

  17. XIOM C55 Impressions and Comparison with H3N

A lot of it is sponge hardness. As a rubber gets closer to 54+ degrees, it gets closer to what Hurricane plays like IMHO. But I agree, the linearity of the DHS offerings is just different, my bestie is Skyline 3, but I also like the others a lot, just not as much.
  18. JTTA: Selection System to be Revamped for Paris 2024

I read the answer and get a different impression from you (she is basically saying she was worse than her opponent in almost every way under pressure). Thanks for posting.
  19. Played against guy w/Rakza Z on fh

Rakza Z is a spinny rubber, above average in spin but not that powerful, which is what most people desire in a forehand rubber (a combination of spin and power). But usually, your issues with spin are often more about your playing level relative to the player looping and your use of equipment...
