The loop itself doesn't matter as much as how much backspin you serve long. If the guy can loop it hard, then that is okay, just practice that. If he high arcs it, then practice that. The thing is that the heaviness if your serve is the key thing. If it is heavy enough, it will be hard for...
  2. Video Footage Safe Thread

The quality of the feed is not that good, it seems like you have something more complicated than just developing a safe backhand in mind based on that. Your basic stance is a bit upright so you seem to be going down and coming back up - yes there should be a squat, but you shouldn't be coming...
  3. Schlager video describing Glayzer, Glayzer 09C and Rozena

There used to be a time too when people would recommend beginners start with thin sponge. Then there was a time when gluing was only for advanced players and that beginners should start with traditional rubbers. Schlager has always been of the view that it is best for a player with lofty goals...
  4. Schlager video describing Glayzer, Glayzer 09C and Rozena

Many things are recommended. Whether they actually make sense depends on whether there is coaching and what the coach is trying to do and there is no right or wrong answer there. There is nothing that comes to mind that makes it hard for someone to use Rozena to start learning TT other than...
  5. Schlager video describing Glayzer, Glayzer 09C and Rozena

I just watched the video and he is making a point he has made before and it is not so much about whether blades or rubbers are easier to change by themselves, but that he would rather that beginners start with a setup that enables looping, and that it is better to be able to play with a setup...
  6. Schlager video describing Glayzer, Glayzer 09C and Rozena

Everything is relative, but the variance in your game caused by rubbers is much more than the variance in your game caused by blades. It is easier to adjust to a new blade with rubbers you know than to adjust to a new rubber with blades you know. This is not even a serious discussion IMHO.

My friend who got me into coaching, he said there was a period he went to China for training as a kid, and came out a wreck. For like six months, he had his worst results in a while. Then all of a sudden, he had his best results. Of course, these were in ancient times. I get the importance...

BTW, I once took a lesson with a coach (2600 penholder) and when I served long backspin and she looped it and I blocked it long, she just told me to stop serving so heavy if I wasn't able to deal with it. So maybe the most conservative way to deal with heavy spin is to not allow it at all lol...
  9. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I think the problem is that you are trying to be conservative and the conservatism is making you do things you think are conservative, but which really do not work against heavy spin. The only thing that I know is truly conservative against heavy spin is trapping the side of the ball. Let's...

Dealing with heavy spin is always an experience process, give yourself a chance to read it and give yourself a chance to develop a swing speed that makes you confident, both on the block (where you need to press down on the ball a little) and the countertopspin, where you have to swing in a...

It's not really the PR boss, it was obvious that they didn't like the man (Rubiales) and used it as an opportunity for retribution, it really wouldn't have mattered if he didn't apologize or not, the real issue is whether the people who wanted him removed could have been appeased. At that level...

This is the sister point - match point of the first game after which it was downhill for Nigeria from there lol, though Quadri did put up a spirited fight vs Omar.

Golden Tango is a sticky hybrid, more on the sticky side than most, with a hard sponge. It is also really spin oriented, not very fast - I think it was out in maybe 2017 or 2018? Relatively heavy too. If you are looking for something that plays like D09c but is much cheaper and not as...

Thanks for sharing, sounds a lot like the results (which you believe were largely driven by how you played) affected your perspective a lot. I think it is very important in competition to just accept how you are playing and to not think too much about the results if they are not part of a...
  15. Official ETTU YouTube channel with questionable content

It is not popular in Western societies to say the quiet part out loud. The British especially and to a lesser but growing degree America are very prudish parts under religion and parts under feminism of a certain kind which makes you believe that before modern times, all women were slaves and...

Yeah, this is exactly the kind of thing that got the Spanish football chairman fired. One should be careful with sexual attitudes. I suspect when feminism becomes universally dominant, the cultural norms will be clearer on how to approach these issues.

You gotta remember, TB thinks ERT is a good source of TT info. So this video is good by TB standards, which when you factor in the overall perspective, is entirely reasonable.
