  1. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

Yes, but this thread in that context doesn't apply to NDH. I was explaining what NDH meant so that people who were stuck thinking about lower level players could understand what he was referring to.
  2. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

Yes. Sometimes, I wish we could all post video of our play so we can see whether we are really practicing what we preach. You are not a beginner, you are at the level of play and experience where investigating equipment is actually useful. For me after someone has hit USATT 1600 or knows how...
  3. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

Not just keeping it on the table. At the higher levels.you have to work harder to deny your opponent a good shot in the serve and return game and slower blades or blades with short game control shine here. But this is a balancing act and depends on the player.

I think yoass said it best. But when I am nominally rated 1900 and I beat a 2200 player but the excuse was that he is using pips (well you never said that he lost to other players as well), and then you barely lost to a nemesis 2 + levels above you, and this is not a good day, I think the...
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

We usually use "random" (the sequence and placement is not fixed) or "anywhere" (the placement is never fixed) for such drills instead of "irregular".
  6. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

It is more about how willing you are to make adjustments. You won't be able to do exactly the same stroke with blades of different speeds and get the same results. The Boll ALC may give you less of the kind of feedback you may be used to with the Grubba. Your arm may be too tight so more...
  7. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

Yes and when playing a guy with medium pips it is not the blocking or the looping away from the table you care about. The guy keeps you close to the table and you have to play with enough spin to stay in the point. And as you pointed out, pushing short with the Schlager is not easy.
  8. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

There are really slow defensive blades (DEF-), and there are really stiff carbon blades (OFF+). Everything in the middle is relative to style and competence. But most of the issues people have with the things that are not at the extreme ends are fixable by training, sometimes on strokes...
  9. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

Yeah. I can see Andrew Baggaley making mince meat of me using hardbat no matter what I use and next to that, Stiga Allround plys Mark V is a rocket.
  10. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

Because you need to be relatively athletic or very experienced to do what they do really well so you are often better off using Euro rubbers.
  11. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

This is one take. There are others. Consistency is not the only thing that wins points, spin and speed do as well. It is very hard to get a topspin ball moving with a slower blade. In the men's game, it is also conventional to step back a little and play larger strokes. Again not as easy...
  12. Upgrade Grubba to Xiom Off S vs. Andro Core Off vs. IF ALC (V-6)

To be honest, the Violin and the Grubba are different. And speed glue and the celluloid ball made things different. In my view you can use anything you want. There was a time when people thought that certain strokes were only for certain levels of players. Or that speed gluing can only be...
  13. Dropping bat when FH against block or topspin

I think the camera angle qnd aspects of Boll's technique is giving a wrong impression of what is happening. Boll is going something very similar. He just doesn't use as much core rotation for his stroke as most people so it is harder to see.
  14. Dropping bat when FH against block or topspin

Timo Boll actually achieves the same thing as the Iranian player in the original post by using a whipping motion with his wrist. So he never actually stops during the take back. Or if he does, he times his acceleration to make a quick backswing with the wrist and body before coming forward...
  15. Need help, finding a good BH rubber.

Now we are starting to get into word debates. The exceptions are coming. Whatever happened to just admitting that you didn't know that Ma Long was using 48 to 50 degree sponge and that you were wrong? Or that people who have seen and tested Timo's racket have said that he uses 50 degree...
  16. Need help, finding a good BH rubber.

Henzell used the same rubber on both sides. You obviously don't read. Walker used the same hard rubber (M1 ) on both sides. Both Gauzy and Calderano used 47 degree rubbers or more on both sides. Unfortunately, people can only read what they can understand. Tenergy 05 is a better rubber...
  17. Need help, finding a good BH rubber.

Fix your punctuation. Do you mean pros use 45 - 50 or that no pros use 45-50? The main reason why Vega Pro is not used as much as Tenergy is the same reason why Fastarc G1 is not used as much as Tenergy - historically they were clearly worse vs Tenergy with the cell ball in terms of speed and...
  18. Need help, finding a good BH rubber.

Maybe maybe not. But Fastarc G1 is a mid hard rubber. It shouldn't be treated like a rock.
  19. Need help, finding a good BH rubber.

Samson Dubina is a pro. Moreover, Ma Long and many provincial players like Kaden Xu use a harder Hurricane sponge on their backhand than many people do on the forehand. It is not specially soft as I have used these rubbers myself. Just softer than the Hardness of their preferred forehand...
