  1. Gluing rubbers when glue is still wet?

I've just been gluing them up and slapping them together as soon as I finish both the blade and rubber, then tossing them into the press for 20+ minutes. Never had a problem with any falling off yet, or surface pockets.
  2. Is trying to play a defensive/chopper style under 2000 USA basically worthless?

Classical defender... I don't think I have the patience for that. I love the off the table chopping, but those happen few and far between. And if I play someone in a game who does try to loop those... and fails, then they don't try again. So it's back to the push-push stuff. I think maybe I...
  3. Is trying to play a defensive/chopper style under 2000 USA basically worthless?

If that's the case, then I'd be attacking perhaps 90% of the points! lol I don't spend a ton of time training or practicing, so the offense suffers if I focus on defense and vice versa. Heck, at the rate I'm left attacking, I could probably devote just a short period of training on chops and...
  4. Is trying to play a defensive/chopper style under 2000 USA basically worthless?

After bumbling around trying out the defensive styles for awhile, mainly aiming to chop... I have come to the conclusion that rarely anybody in the 1,200-1,900 USA rating range wants to loop the ball! And that winning by attacking seems much easier and quicker. So for anyone else out there...
  5. Which chinese rubber play like tenergy 05

I said the same thing to my car dealer. Give me something that drives and feel like a Lamborghini, but I don't want to pay anything close to that price! Sent me home in a prius... somehow, not quite sure I'm getting the same experience.
  6. BH flip vs short serves. Going with the spin or against. Does it matter to you?

I think it does to a degree. But you still need to be able to read the serve, at least somewhat. Top spin / back spin / no spin variations. Against top spin you go more over the ball and against back spin you go more under the ball, naturally. So if you can 'guess' if it's top or back, then...
  7. Unsolicited Coaching

I would assume it's more directed at people who aren't all that great, but consider themselves experts. Like the proverbial armchair analyst/backseat driver! When a good player offers me advice, I like to test it out certainly. Maybe you haven't encountered the type Ilia is referring to, or I...
  8. Unsolicited Coaching

But... you're not serving with long pips, are ya? +1 for the old geezer!
  9. Unsolicited Coaching

I like to have fun with them, if I'm in the mood. Ask for clarification and then (intentionally, though not too overtly) do the technique wrong or exaggerate the mistake. This will send 'coach' into a bit of a tizzy, and then you keep on going down that route of messing up on purpose and...
  10. Defensive Blade Suggestions? (2017)

What do you think is the absolute slowest defensive blade out now? Or a few really slow ones? I had a chance to do some experimenting at the club, and thought I should learn the classical defense for awhile to begin with. So I'm just wanting something that has terrific control, and of course...
  11. Dealing with short pips.

When playing long pips I think speed is more important than spin. Especially against long pips with low reversal meaning you'll get back closer to dead balls. Here's an idea, stop giving him spin to work with! Long pip players need spin to work with generally. Instead of doing heavy top spin...
  12. Defensive Blade Suggestions? (2017)

How about something like tackiness chop in 1.9mm in comparison? I haven't used any of the tacky chinese stuff in a long time and seem to prefer the euro style.
  13. Defensive Blade Suggestions? (2017)

I was leaning toward one of the koji blades. Any experience with the koji special (the one with carbon)? I don't think I'd want anything slower than the defplay, going by memory. The fast offensive blades I've been using of late are difficult to really load up on the spin with consistently...
  14. Defensive Blade Suggestions? (2017)

I like watching Wu Yang, Li Qian, Hou Ying Chao, and Seo Hyo Won. Mainly ones that do a lot of forehand chopping. The current Wu Yang is a lot more offensive than she was a number of years ago. I probably lean more towards her older style with less offensive risks. I was using the defplay...
  15. Defensive Blade Suggestions? (2017)

Another thread inquiring about blades, the horrors! I've been reading a number of the older 'defensive blade' threads, but many date back to 2012 or before. And I see a lot of new blades have been released since then. Are there any good suggestions that people are finding success with in the...
  16. China Open 2017

Similar experience for me as well. Herniated the lower back doing a rather mundane movement... felt fine a short while after. Went back to lifting and...BAM! Got hit with it again, much worse. Took several years and a lot of physio before I could wake up in the morning without pain/stiffness...
  17. Bodybuilding in Tabletennis !

All that seems to be very archaic thinking. Is there a pro sports team in any sport that doesn't lift weights (including heavy weights)? And many of those require touch as well -- baseball, football, soccer, badminton, lacrosse, whatever else. If you want to disagree with the current line of...
  18. Bodybuilding in Tabletennis !

Ronnie Coleman, one of the biggest and best bodybuilders of all time, could still do the splits! Again guys, if you train the attributes you want to develop or maintain, there's only a very, very VERY small portion who has to worry about the negative impact of strength training or growing too...
  19. Bodybuilding in Tabletennis !

Take a look at olympic lifters and tell me heavy weights and low reps build slow muscles... lol -- sounds like some locker room propaganda from the 1950s! And for anyone asking "will bodybuilding ruin me athletically?" I usually just giggle to myself. For a very elite few, it might. Most people...
  20. Table tennis 11.com

tt11 ships me items faster than a number of companies located inside the usa (where I live).... and tt11 is located in estonia! Only downside is you can't get butterfly products from them.
