It needs legs and timing .... rubber is secondary ... if you can get the footwork and timing right , the rubber eventually becomes a much smaller factor... e.g at this time I can switch from H3 to T05 same/similar / different blades and still pretty much make the opening loop with consistency...

Its very normal ... thats why you need warmup . If your muscles are not soft you cannot feel the impact , and also some of the neural pathways needs to be working for you to see the ball early. Thats all that happens in warm up.

Its a test of your footwork , feeling ( grip pressure control and understanding of spin ) , and whip mechanism ... so essentially its a test of how good a player you are ... there is no good or bad "feeling" .. the moment you categorize it as bad you will never be able to give the proper respect...
