  1. Do counter and drive hits have spin?

Trust me you're over thinking this one with "is it no spin? Topspin?" etc. Some shots in TT are harder to hit than others. This is one of the most basic easy strokes in TT. Trust me it's topspin. Just look at his blade face. It's slightly closed. If it was no-spin, that ball would go into the...
  2. Do counter and drive hits have spin?

Counter drive is very important IMO. Got to have the shot. It's just a normal topspin ball. Heavy topspin as much as a loop? Of course not. But when it's coming at you, you shouldn't worry about what spin it has on it. If they're doing what Jeff is doing in the video, it's standard topspin...
  3. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Nope nothing on your RPB. I thought it was nice. Good use of arm & wrist. Some people don't get enough whip in it with too little wrist. Some are too wristy. I think you're on the right track there. Just be sure to practice all forms of it. Saw you countering topspin and that was nice. But...
  4. Just curious how many Penholders are on TTD?

Saw a few nice things. I think as you progress and work on your techinque, you & your partner will get better and doing your practice with a little more pace & speed. Like that you're trying to be active & light on your feet moving with your forehand. I see you working try to practice shifting...
  5. Double fish v40 abs ball

Don't quote me on this and i'm sure someone will clear this up but isn't Double Fish a sister company or possibly owned by DHS? I was under that impression. If so, I would expect the balls to play pretty similar to the DHS 40+ ABS ball. I've always been a fan of Double Fish balls in the past...

Random question time. I'm watching a match and i could have sworn a guy took a towel break at 3-4. But i'm also at work so i could have missed it. :) Anyways. If you're allowed a towel break every 6 points, you usually see players utilize this at 6, 12, 18 , etc. But what if you didn't use the...

wow that post from NL brought a big smile to my face. Always been a big HZW fan. +1

  10. Finally, orange poly balls has been launched!!!

This is fantastic. Our club already plays with the DHS 40+ 3 stars and those balls are great. But... So many of our members, and myself included prefer orange. Can't wait until these are readily available.

Equipment Question. I'm diving back into the world of dual inverted. I currently play with a Stiga Clipper Classic penhold. It really is probably the best blade I've ever played with in terms of speed, control & feel. I originally bought this blade to play short pips but this is a long time...
  12. Which chinese rubber play like tenergy 05

Late to the party on this thread but the ole "what plays like Tenergy" topic again when the answer has long been... Nothing. But in the last year or so, at our club, many players have simply just gone to the Evolution series and called it a day. It's significantly cheaper and the quality from...

Your TT game/story I’m starting to suspect is an ever changing one with the times. At least for me it is. So I use to play about the trickiest/weird style you could imagine. Short pips (sometimes inverted)/Long pips penhold twiddle game. I loved the mind games it played but after plateauing...

Whew you're tough to please. Hit smoked that BH for a winner an you're not happy? I mean that was one great BH drive with a lot of speed. Maybe it's beyond my point of understanding but he put a medium paced topspin shot to your backhand and you smoked it with a powerful drive. I saw this...

Okay thanks for the info. For a little background, our biggest event is always our Opens. We always do RR groups of 3 to determine A Singles, B Singles & C Singles. From there, we round robin again for those class singles. I'd probably prefer those be double elimination. This last weekend...

Want your guys thoughts on this. What do you like and what do you see at tournaments you go to? So our state games just wrapped up and all the non-sanctioned (meaning non-USATT tournaments in my area. Never been to a USATT event) have used Round Robin formats. Meaning you play everyone in your...

+1 Yeah I've seen enough videos now where Liu Guoliang is being translated talking to his team and he's big on fighting spirit etc. Figure nobody knows the game better than him so he must be onto something. I kinda learned that lesson 1st had this weekend as evidenced by my post.

I wonder at what point we stop comparing the spin difference between Plastic & Celluloid? Not that there's anything wrong with it. It's more just out of my curiousity. I mean you don't see people talking about the 38mm ball. Of course that'd be silly. Yes marketers are making rubbers branded as...
  19. Cornilleau Target Pro GT Rubber Series Review

I've got to learn that push drop shot he was doing. Vs backspin sure I get it but Dan seemed to indicate he could do it vs almost any spin short serve he'd give him.
  20. Penhold Setup Question

I'll help you with a real short answer. It's not the equipment. It's your skill & experience. Keep practicing until you can simply hit a forehand in more consistently. Consistency on the amateur level is king. Ugh I really didn't want to get into equipment talk because I stand by what i wrote...
