  1. Backhand improvement, and advice

To me, a `’loop’ style shot on BH is only ever an opener vs backspin. If I receive topspin I either try to drive/push taking the ball early and generating position and sometimes pace, or I topspin drive with more spin and less penetration - both are fairly short strokes with slightly different...
  2. A happy accident – do i go for a wood blade?

I swapped back to 5 ply (Violin) from my HL5x recently and haven’t looked back - better consistency and control and plenty speed. Ironically I also switched back to H3 from 09c at the same time and feel more comfortable with it.
  3. Fang Bo Carbon Review - Best blade ever, ask me anything!

I miss my HL5's but without a doubt I am a more consistent player with my Violin or Acoustic along with slightly slower rubbers - originally I though I might be able to use faster rubbers on the slower blades or vice versa, but ultimately the slower rubbers and blades is proving the better...
  4. Fang Bo Carbon Review - Best blade ever, ask me anything!

Interesting description - I am pleased you are enjoying it. That description could be used for my experience with the HL5x's I have too. Funnily enough, having used them for a while I am now back with a 5 ply because I found them a little fast for my current abilities.
  5. DHS hurricane 301 help

Nothing really compares with boosted H3 if you like it.
  6. I have a Hurricane 3 neo orange sponge 39 degree and a Tenergy 05, ask me anything!

Makes sense - I certainly found it similar to your description but didn't quite feel I was up to it yet so headed back to a slightly slower (but similar in feel) H3 on FH and Fastarc C1 on BH, which I find linear and controllable. I hope to migrate back to D09C and D05 (BH) at some point into...
  7. I have a Hurricane 3 neo orange sponge 39 degree and a Tenergy 05, ask me anything!

I'd would be interested to know what drew you from T05 to D09c (rather than say to D05) and I would also be interested to know how it's working out for you now you've played it a while and if you enjoy what it offers?
  8. SMART RACKET just funded ?? on Kickstarter - Thanks!

Congratulations - I am very excited for you and looking forward to seeing the blade.
  9. Nittaku Fastarc G1 vs Joola Rhyzen ZGR vs Joola Maxxx 500

G1 is not faster than H3 (boosted) - it's a little bouncier but it's still quite hard and has nowhere near the spin and ultimate pace of H3.
  10. DHS hurricane 301 help

I have a 301x and HL5x - neither are slow (H3 boosted / various tensors BH) but they can feel a bit that way initially. I felt the short game was a little muted until I adjusted to the way the blade works. They have gears - once you hit harder with more intent, they are pretty fast - so much so...
  11. nittaku H3

I did boost it lightly - 1 layer of Seamoon.
  12. nittaku H3

I have 8-80 37 deg on my BH on my spare blade, I like it a lot. I think it’s a tad soft for my FH though.
  13. nittaku H3

Interesting feedback. For some reason I just found 09c (limited time with it so far) offered less control and feel than my regular H3 (boosted) I am drawn to 09c though and will no doubt try it again before long..
  14. nittaku H3

Makes sense - thanks. Having just last week put a 40d neo H3 back on I felt immediately at home and more comfortable than with H8 or D09c.
  15. Best wooden allround+ and/or offensive- blades

I think of all the all wood blades I have tried (not that many to be fair) I like the Nittaku Viloin the best, closely followed by the Acoustic.
  16. nittaku H3

Thanks - I haven't tried it. May I ask your take homes on D09C and if you will use it again?
  17. nittaku H3

Thanks Duke, given I would be viewing it in the same way, may I ask why it was not a successful replacement for H3? I find myself returning time and again to H3 in some form having tried others like H8, D09C etc.
  18. nittaku H3

Hey Duke, I’m interested in why you say Turbo blue doesn’t need boosting - you’ve used this rubber so I value your opinion. Given that H3 is generally considered in need of boosting (certainly over 39 deg) and that turbo blue is 43 deg, why would it not need boosting to make it playable?
  19. nittaku H3

It's all those things - as has been said many times before. My two sheets are both 60/61g cut to size, so a good 10g heavier than my H3 or Dignics sheets. It was only the few posts on this thread that gave me hope that if boosted enough to soften it that it can be a good FH rubber, so I will be...
  20. nittaku H3

What hardness is your red H3? I have a 37 deg sheet of H3 arriving this week to try on my BH at some point (right now using Fastarc C1 which is a good deal softer..)
