  1. Do the pro`s now the rules of table tennis ?

That's clearly stated, yes. There's always the possibility that I've simply misunderstood the rules, because I can't find a source to back me up. I tried. I could have sworn that I've read an official document stating otherwise, but I can't find anything, so it might as well not exist...
  2. Do the pro`s now the rules of table tennis ?

The ball has to be behind the back line, and above the playing surface. If you move it past the side lines, the ball is technically no longer behind the back line, although it's still over the playing surface. Behind meaning the area of space infinitely backwards, with the boundaries at where...
  3. The Jab Serve

I'm not very good at this serve, but it's still a great source of free points and pop ups. Maybe now's the time to get a bit better at it!
  4. Extreme Table Tennis Training with weights and UFC masks!

Hmm, well it is quite "extreme". Not sure if I would have thought of it myself. Recently I had some minor shoulder pain, but because I am an idiot, I tried to play anyway because it was not great or constant pain, hah. Turns out that being relaxed in my strokes completely took away all of the...
  5. Extreme Table Tennis Training with weights and UFC masks!

Ah, so the point of the mask and the weights is not increasing lung or muscle development, but to make him conscious? So in other words, he can really feel when he's breathing compared to not breathing because he's got the mask on, and the weight on his legs makes him better feel where his legs...
  6. Extreme Table Tennis Training with weights and UFC masks!

I don't want to derail the topic into one about myself. Eli said, "What do you guys think?". This is what I think. Maybe I am completely wrong. I don't have knowledge in high level coaching, so I ask. So: Why exactly the mask AND the weights? Does the student regularly train with the...
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Carl, you're really having a go with those icons, aren't you? ;)
  8. Extreme Table Tennis Training with weights and UFC masks!

I am quite ignorant about the matter indeed. That's why I'm thinking "If the coach says so, so be it". I don't think a good coach would do something unnecessary. However I've never heard of these being used in TT training. Are they really common? Are the benefits proven? EDIT: Also, why does...
  9. Extreme Table Tennis Training with weights and UFC masks!

I think Tony's TT said it best. He's a "Verified Pro Coach" according to the title, and knowing his previous posting history, I'm inclined to take his word. I'm not too sure myself if training with one of those is useful, or dangerous, or what, but you'd think that their use was more...
  10. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

If a big heavy guy is playing a sport really not made for big heavy guys, you better watch the hell out. It's like those 60+ year old SOF vets. There's a reason they're still vets and not 6 feet under.
  11. Extreme Table Tennis Training with weights and UFC masks!

That is my impression as well. Perhaps the coach felt that this is necessary to improve the student. Perhaps Mardosta also didn't notice that he has leg weights on. I've never played with them but I can imagine it'd slow you down a great deal.

  13. FX Super

4 out of 5 rating for Super FX Not having too much reference, these are all observations not based on any valid comparison. This is my backhand rubber. I use the blue sponge variant on my forehand, which aside from a little more speed, is mostly the same in performance. There are more...
  14. Women's World Cup 2016

Men these days are getting more and more feminine it seems. "Men's singles" and all. Just messing with you Dan. ;)
  15. Extreme Table Tennis Training with weights and UFC masks!

Do you feel this is more effective than playing weak balls to him and making him be conscious of his breathing? The idea of the mask is to force him to breathe, right. Why the weights?
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I'm starting to find out that slightly "weaker" shots, but as much spin as possible and good placement, take me much, much farther at the level I play at. 50 - 60% power with some spin and consistency is much better than trying to 70 - 80% the ball constantly: at my level of ability. My footwork...
  17. Allround Evolution

    Allround Evolution

Suited for all round players who want to vary spin and speed. Based on the Stiga Allround Class but faster.
  18. Super FX

Review by 'Archosaurus' on item 'Super FX'

Not having too much reference, these are all observations not based on any valid comparison. This is my backhand rubber. I use the blue sponge variant on my forehand, which aside from a little more speed, is mostly the same in performance. There are more differences but I just can't feel them...
  19. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Would it be incorrect to perform a punch block by using the leverage from your elbow? It does make much more sense as being a pushing motion, because all good penholders seem to just push straight outwards more or less.
