Carl, satire isn't good if you just exaggerate whatever was said. Be more creative. :p Do you really think I'm banging my legs together or hitting the racket? How uncoordinated do you have to be to do that?
  2. What are the secrets of the production of Tenergy?

So if we combine Tenergy sponge with National H3 topsheet and speed glue it, what do we get? A second big bang?

"Half distance" for me is, about, 1.5m to 2m away. A "full" cross-step would be 2m+. Don't tell me you can cover 2m with shuffle steps when you need to return a fast shot that's a little too wide to your forehand. You can probably take one step and then reach for the ball, but I really don't...

@NextLevel When I didn't understand the cross-step in the slightest, I spent weeks analyzing it so I don't hurt myself, and tried to walk through the leg motion. I couldn't perform it right: my legs got all jumbled up and it wasn't in my system yet. I was in no rush to learn it then: my game...

1:36. It's a big sideways step, and you rotate around the lead leg. However, I think NL is talking about this, most if not all un-coached people seem to do a hop instead, landing mostly on one leg with the rear-leg high. Timing's all messed up and it's real bad on the knees I'd imagine. That is...

Well, I don't know what's correct because I'm not an expert nor have I been trained by an expert, so I couldn't say if you were cheating me out of the 100$ or not. ;) I took a lot of video and had to delete some in-between, so I don't know if I have any fast steps saved, but I do have very slow...

My cross-steps feel a bit slow for what I can do in a fitness sense, so I took some video today. My form gets a lot worse the less distance, and thus the slower I go. For wide backhand to wide forehand cross-steps, I think I'm pretty close to the limit of what I can do with my athleticism. I...

Yep, exactly. I caught myself not even accelerating into the ball at all a time or two, trying to just get my bat on it. That's real bad. I know his rallying skills are bad, so I tried to just get the return on the table so I can get a ball to attack. That resulted in weak play, and I lost...
  9. My backhand is beyond horrible

Also, a personal tip from me, from when I was heavily fixing my backhand: Start slow. Really slow. 30 - 40% power or less even. If you can't do it at that speed, you're not gonna be better at 70%. At least for me, it was compelling to just go faster on the backhand with more drive: it didn't...

I've noticed that when I want to kill a serve, at this level, I mostly can. Even serves like the one's I'm having problems with: sometimes it just sticks and things work perfectly. The first time I played him, it went 11-2, and I was just getting points off his serve. After I noticed how deadly...
  11. My backhand is beyond horrible

Video would be pretty great. However, for what you've said, I'm just gonna ask this: Are you pushing with the whole arm, or are you rotating your arm from the elbow? If your backhand is lacking in power and spin, you're probably pushing into the ball as opposed to rotating into it, like a lever.

I would still hide my serve to the point where it'd not get called, to even it out. Especially in a competition situation. Winning is a given. If someone is cheating like this, they're bound to have some gaps in their game that they're trying to fill, and it's my job to send their serves back...

I guess I should just go for it then. When I'm warmed up, I can kill balls like that, because they're predictable and have a lot of spin to use. Otherwise, they're a huge weakness: so I need to train my lowest level reaction to the shot. I played the penholder when I was cold, and he didn't want...

Is taking it right off the bounce consistent? My reasoning being that you can just redirect the speed and spin.
  15. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

The player I'm talking about is very weak against sidespin loops to his wide forehand, like you guessed. Must be a penholder thing. He does exactly what you say, too. If I return it into his BH, he will just punch it back hard into my elbow, although usually I can get a good stroke in because I...

Microsoft decided to essentially kill my PC with their latest update, but I'm back. About those illegal serves: There's a decent penholder who I play who serves really illegal topspin fast serves, basically throwing the ball into the racket. He isn't bad and he has a loop and a hit, but his...
  17. Guess the rating : the player in black natural shirt towards the camera

Sorry to be a bummer, but getting animals to do weird tricks like this usually involves a lot of torture. Although monkey and chimp like creatures allegedly do some strange things without any gruesome beating as motivation.
  18. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I think Larry Hodges talked about this once on his blog, when discussing blocking. Moving in has one added benefit too: you add more pace to the ball. I like to take most wide forehand balls with some hooking sidespin and fairly slowly (So I can develop my touch, even if it's not always ideal)...
  19. Match video: Feedback welcome

You're not bad at all for a year of experience and no coach. Don't be too stressed about it. I can't give you much good advice, especially advice that hasn't been said, but I can tell you this because my serves are far better than my game: Learn pendulum. Learn it good. An hour straight 5...

Today was average as always, but I worked on my serves. I'm getting more consistent at getting proper contact on the ball for good spin. My reverse-pendulum is also match-confident now after quite a bit of practice, so I worked on contacting properly on reverse-pendulum top/side serves that...
