  1. Question for Blade-Builders

Dear Blade Builders, I have a question about 7-ply allwood blade construction: What would be the difference in playing characteristics between a blade with a thick centre core and three thin plies on either side, and a blade with multiple medium-thick centre plies and thin outer plies? For...

    There's a review here: https://blog.tabletennis11.com/review-four-7-ply-all-wood-blades
  3. The GOAT? FZD=Djokovic & ML=Federer

For sure! And if he keeps playing like this I wouldn't bet against him doing that...
  4. The GOAT? FZD=Djokovic & ML=Federer

Watching the World Cup last week and the ITTF Finals this week, I couldn't help but notice the similarities between FZD and Novak Djokovic on the one hand, and ML and Roger Federer on the other. Federer and ML are both moving closer to the end of outstanding careers during which they've both...
  5. ITTF Finals 2020

FZD is looking close to unbeatable at the moment. Assuming he's not having an "off" day (which, surely, even he must have from time to time?) his game is so complete it's hard to see anyone getting the better of him.
  6. Testing Vladimir Samsonov's Table Tennis Bat!

You could try post a question on the TT Gear Lab website. I see folks often ask for further details on there...
  7. Testing Vladimir Samsonov's Table Tennis Bat!

You can see all the details (head size, handle size, etc.) here: https://ttgearlab.com/2017/03/14/tibhar-vs-unlimited-overview/
  8. Testing Vladimir Samsonov's Table Tennis Bat!

Nice review Dan! What always amazes me watching top pros play is just how easy they make everything look. Honestly, watching VS, one could be forgiven for thinking: "Table tennis is really easy. I think I'll take it up and just quickly go win the Olympic Gold - no big deal."
  9. Men's World Cup 2020

Based on the "Round of 16" lineup, what final would you most like to see? I don't think it's very likely, but I'd love to see Calderano vs. Ovtcharov going at each other with both on top form.
  10. Tibhar's catalogue ratings and CCA7

I've used the Lebesson and the Drinkhall Powerspin Carbon which are rated (for speed) in the Tibhar catalogue as 8 (Lebesson) and 9+ (Drinkhall) and there is a significant difference between them. In my opinion, I would call the Lebesson an ALL+ blade and the Drinkhall Powerspin an OFF+ blade...

  12. Banda All Around Blade Review

Nice review Yogi! And great pics too. I played with a Banda Dacota about 30 years ago and I remember it being good to play with. Glad to see they're back in the market.
  13. All wood ALL+, OFF- blades

I've used the Tibhar Lebesson and Xiom Offensive S. Both excellent blades and really good value for money. I would place the Lebesson at ALL+ and the Xiom Offensive S at Off-.
  14. Yasaka Falck Carbon and W7 Blades Review

I think he means Limba outer ply | unknown next ply (either Limba or Ayous) | Carbon | Unknown core (either Kiri or Ayous)
  15. SDC Handmade Blades

That looks amazing! Out of interest, how would you rate the speed compared to any well-known all-wood blade? I know frequency readings don't tell the whole story, so I'd be interested to how how this compares to something like a Tibhar Samsonov Force Pro Black, or a Korbel SK7, or any other...
  16. A new blade for Dimitri Ovtcharov?

Interesting. It looks like a slightly thicker Viscaria which, if it's a Limba outer as well (which seems to have been DO's preference) basically means this is a Freitas ALC with a Donic Senso style handle. But ... Dan's video definitely says "Innerforce ALC style" blade. I suppose that means...
  17. List of Players (Game Strategy)

Simon Gauzy ALL+ / OFF- Dimitri Ovtcharov OFF++ Tomokazu Harimoto OFF+ Kristian Karlsson OFF+ Quadri Aruna OFF
  18. List of Players (Game Strategy)

    Hugo Calderano OFF+++
  19. Joola Nature

According to that review it looks like the Timber 7 has 5 of its 7 layers thermo-treated as follows: Limba (thermo) - Ayous (thermo) - Ayous - Ayous (thermo) - Ayous - Ayous (thermo) - Limba (thermo) I'm not sure how that compares to the TSP Swat, but I guess it should make it a bit stiffer...
  20. A new blade for Dimitri Ovtcharov?

In Dan's video (at 0:33s here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnoNipHJQXo) he says that Dimitri is using an "Innerforce Layer ALC style" blade. I assume that means he's using his old Donic Ovtcharov No. 1 Senso with a Butterfly handle until Butterfly can make a new blade for him? In other...
