So I just noticed that Joo/Kihara vs. Bajor/Kulkova was a walkover. Also, the Hirano vs. Joo match was a walkover. Anyone know if Joo got injured or sick on Monday?

FWIW, Kihara/Joo made the SF at the 2024 Singapore Smash beating JJH/SYB at the QF stage, but your point is taken. Hopefully, they can fix their issues soon because there are teams even before they reach China that might be able to trip them up if they don't bring their A game.

Maybe this is a good thing for Japan if CM plays singles at the Paris Olympics. Both Hirano and Hayata have a win against CM although Hirano's win was from 2017. Neither has a win vs. WMY according to ITTF's H2H results. Oh the conspiracies!

Haven't had a chance to watch this, but a disappointing loss against a pairing from different national teams. They're T-League teammates but haven't yet been able to b blend their talents. If they continue like this, I want my Double Miyu back and let the chips fall where they may.

A number of matches could go either way. Ito has to get past DHK in R32, and SYB would have to get past the winner of Kihara/Nagasaki. Hirano has to get past Joo Cheonhui in R32.

Kanak must have *just* missed the cutoff date for world ranking used for the Saudi Smash. He currently is ahead of the very last non wild card player in qualifiers, but the cutoff must have been before he won Feeder Dusseldorf :(
