Well if you assume that wood type and thickness actually is the dominant factor in determining speed, then you would expect that the Harimoto ALC and HL5 would have nearly the same speed. So, is that just the answer? If not, what are the main factors that determine speed and flex of a blade?

Unfortunately Im in the US. I mostly play mid-distance, so i need a bit of power from the blade. I mostly do topspin loops, so i need enough flex and spin. I dont expect it to be exactly like LYJ, but do you think its close to Viscaria level speed to loop from mid range?

Actually I wonder, in just the local tournaments, is anybody still doing the speed glue thing? Since its not official anyways, why not just go ahead and speed glue. I think speed glue gives more of a boost than booster.

So my question is: did the high pitch sound come with a high speed? And was the blade brick hard? or did it still have reasonable flex?
