  1. “Sealing effects performance”…. Is there any proof?

Back in the 38 mm ball era, if you are using soft flexible 5-ply allwood blade, then sealing will affect the blade and you can surely feel it. That's why you have to seal it thinly. However, with hard fast allwood blade or composite, you don't really feel it (at least not for me, mere...
  2. Broken WCQ blade

I would say that it is more psychological thing. If I watched the other video, it seems that WCQ frequently abused his blade by throwing it around. So it will just a matter of time that his blade will be broken, either by him or by others.
  3. Beginner to Intermediate

If I remember correctly reading the old old old forum (can't remember which one, and probably defunct now), I read that there was one member who went from complete noob to USATT 2000 in 2 years (or one year???) which surprised many forum members. IIRC, he used to play other racket sport...
  4. Question to all experts and EJ-players: Wooden blade with flared thick handle?

Tibhar Samsonov Force Pro Black Edition, especially the Straight (ST) handle. The thickest among many I have tried.
  5. Uncommon Blade: Bo2x-U

Ah, it makes sense now. Thank you
  6. Uncommon Blade: Bo2x-U

I was wondering, what do they mean by Horizontal shot: 90+/-3 g and Direct shot: 87+/-3 g? (in Weight category) I always get about the same weight either I put the blade standing up (stand on handle) or I put the blade lying down. Same thing with size measurement, can you get 2 numbers for...
  7. SQST squared straight handle

I do not know if Andro models their handles to certain mold (meaning: same handle across many models). But I have Andro Kinetic Suss ALL+ (straight handle) and the handle is very comfy to hold. Too bad they discontinued that model. It is a good ALL+ hinoki top-ply blade.
  8. Improved the Petr Korbel (Japanese version) Head heavy, thin handle (fixed with tweaks)

I don't really have any issue with the larger head of my Korbel, but I have issue with thinner handle (which can be easily fixed using grip tape, although you would lose a bit of natural feeling there). My question to you is: How do you trim the head size? Just using rough sand paper? Or...
  9. SQST squared straight handle

I beg to differ. While I can use SQST quite alright, but I prefer RST. It is not really round though, but a bit of roundness on the side. Perfect example will be Stiga ST, Dicon ST and WSC ST. Back to the topic, the most square ST is Yasaka ST. It is a bit flat though, compared to BTY...
  10. New Butterfly Hadraw 5

A blade that has construction such as limba - spruce - ayous - spruce - limba as in Dicon or Waldner Offensive 2016 (or koto - spruce - ayous - spruce- koto, as in Hadraw 5) has this distinct trampoline effect. Limba outerply combined with spruce as intermediate ply has more trampoline effect...
  11. New Butterfly Hadraw 5

I have Korbel Speed, but it is different from Hadraw 5. Korbel Speed, while has koto as outerply, does not have spruce in it. Korbel Speed if I recall correctly is either koto - koto - ayous - koto - koto or koto - limba - ayous - limba - koto.
  12. Need assistance with new equipment (Rubber and blade combination)

If I look at the date of the first posting, it was in March 2024. In addition, he/she has listed Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Offensive as his/her blade (along with H3 rubbers on both sides). Probably he/she had made his choice given that no one responded to his post in the beginning.
  13. What the H3LL did I get myself into this time....

Have this thought then: I will definitely lose whatever I do, so why don't I just enjoy myself? I actually play much better when I play against a really good (high ranked) player, because somehow I play loosely (with no burden, I mean, knowing that I will certainly lose) and the result is I...
  14. Sanwei Fextra 5, new blade?

It is Koto. I have several copies of Persson Powerplay and they look exactly the same as Fextra 5 (as shown in the picture next to a Viscaria). I do not know if there is another version of Fextra Pro with limba outerply. With koto-spruce-ayous-spruce-koto composition and thickness of 5.8 mm...
  15. Best Rubber for Andro Treiber CO off/s

In certain countries, such as the OP's country, a beginner might start with Timo Boll ALC or Viscaria that most players there consider them as "control blades". I even see beginners start with BTY Primorac Carbon or Donic Persson Power Carbon v1, which they consider as "fast blades", but they...
  16. Sanwei Fextra 5, new blade?

It it's koto - spruce - ayous - spruce - koto, then it is another Avalox P500 ( if it's 5.7 - 5.8 mm thick) or BTY Hadraw 5 (if it's 5.9 - 6.0 mm thick), but way cheaper than those two.
  17. Other candidates for GOAT

HEY HEY.... I AM THE INVENTOR of RPB !!!! Back in the late 70s, when I first started to learn table tennis (LGL was still in diaper) I used penhold grip. I watched lots of matches (in video) and tried to imitate Zhuan Ze Dong (incorrect spelling?). He could do backhand smash (in traditional...
  18. can this varnish be used for sealing blade?

If you are afraid that the varnish will be too thick and affect the feeling too much, then apply evenly as thin as possible and wait for 15 - 30 seconds, then wipe it off with old used T-shirt or any other fabrics.
  19. Felix Lebrun then and now vs Harimoto

I am sorry to say this: I know that their behavior may not be the best (including Harimoto with his annoying CHO) but in my life (not only in TT), those people with such "strong" personality usually advance in life the fastest. Especially compared to the laid back people who take everything...
