  1. Observation on blade designs of various well-known brands(controversial...probably)

I'm sorry Carl but lVegita is right. The wood that big brands use in the handles is basically thin veneers that are pre-dyed and then glued together. The wood is cut in the perpendicular direction so that the grain is oriented vertically. They used to do this but with bigger chunks of wood 1-2mm...

  4. SDC Handmade Blades

I wanna say thank you to members Magic_M and Shinshiro for trusting in me to build their custom blades. I really hope you are happy with the result. Blade 26 - This one goes to Magic_M. Straight handle made to his specifications. Very similar to Blade 16 but with Limba outer. The core was...
  5. Ovtcharov No.1 Senso Blade Review | With Dimitrij Ovtcharov

Dima has read this post. He is playing with this blade in the final (at least the handle) Enviado do meu SM-G531F através do Tapatalk
  6. European Team Championships 2019

We were waiting on the official report on that. It's bad news but ok, Portugal still likes you :)

  8. Czech Open 2019 (World Tour)

Not chinese but it's supposed to be Tenergy 09C. People were suspicious that it was a tacky rubber, i guess this proves that theory.
  9. SDC Handmade Blades

Ah ah, i was just waiting for anyone to notice. The Adidas Avenger Carbon had one of the most aesthetically pleasing handles in my opinion and some of my handles are based on that. I hope i don't get sued :p
  10. SDC Handmade Blades

Thanks Simas. Those are my initials SDC. I buy a large sheet of plastic and cut the lens to size using the drill press. The logo is just printed on a piece of paper.
  11. What's Wrong with Harimoto's FH?

In my opinion the "issue" with TH's FH is all about timing. He has a very aggressive BH and likes to stay very close to the table to pressure his opponents. That's much easier to do with the BH, which is a shorter stroke, than with the FH. So he developed a FH based on waist rotation and arm...
  12. SDC Handmade Blades

Two more Limba blades, this time using red ALC. Actually, the veneer is dark limba, that's why there are some dark spots in the edges. Blade 24 is a Inner Fiber type composition: Limba/Limba/ALC/WRC/ALC/Limba/Limba - 93.4g - 5.85mm - 1290Hz Blade 25 is a Michael Maze/ Marcos Freitas type...
  13. What's Wrong with Harimoto's FH?

If he used a chinese rubber on FH for a while he would learn how to properly generate power. Of course that's impossible for someone like him Enviado do meu SM-G531F através do Tapatalk
  14. SDC Handmade Blades

The 2 "twin" blades had exactly the same weight before gluing the handles, so i was very happy with the consistency. I sourced the materials from lots of places, just search for the blade builders thread wich has a lot of information regarding construction and materials.
  15. SDC Handmade Blades

Thanks GinjaNinja. I already got the chance to try the first 2. Blade 20 plays like a stiffer Korbel, the composition is similar but the WRC gives it a little more power and less hollow feeling. It's great away from the table. Blade 21 is faster than it's frequency suggests. It feels a little...
  16. SDC Handmade Blades

The black and white stripes are not wood, they are pvc sheets glued together. The colored part is dyed basswood, its a very neutral wood so it takes stain really well.
  17. SDC Handmade Blades

    Finally got my hands on some limba! Blade 20 - Limba/Limba x2/WRC/Limba x2/Limba - 91.7g - 5.9mm - 1120Hz Blade 21 - Mahogany/Beech/Spruce/Beech/Mahogany - 90.2g - 5.8mm - 1200Hz Blade 22 - Limba/Basalt Fibre/Limba/Kiri x3/Limba/Basalt Fibre/Limba - 90.9g - 5.8mm - 1230Hz Blade 23 -...
  18. Seeking replacement for Hans Alser OC

If you want to maintain a flexible feel i would keep the thickness of the blade in the 5.6-5.7 mm range. So, Koto - 0.6/0.5mm, spruce usually 0.8mm to get that springy feel, that leaves 2.8-3.0mm for the ayous core.
  19. Seeking replacement for Hans Alser OC

To me it looks like koto. People tend to emphasize too much the outer layer contribution. In my experience, the medial and core are much more important in defining the blade's character.
  20. LF All Wood Blade like Korbel but with smaller head size

The Donic Waldner Senso is exactly the same composition and thickness as the Korbel, but it might be a little head heavy beause of the senso handle. Xiom Offensive S seems to be Limba-Ayous-Ayous so it might be a little softer and slower. Tibhar Stratus Power wood is a little thicker thus a...
