Well if you are doubting between topspin or backspin, you can try a sidespin receive, so your shot won't be affected by the top/backspin as much.

He looks like a recreational player to me. No standard technique or footwork. Not too much talent either I'd think, but I could be wrong. Assuming he is the tall guy in the black shirt :)

Haha, a hidden insult :P I don't think he meant it like that xD I also watched that match but I must say I wasn't that impressed with his technique. It looks a bit limited, but maybe that is caused by the footwork sometimes. Timo places well of course :)
