  1. China Open 2019

This link works for me but you got to put up with the (annoying?) person streaming it: http://www.qiuw.com/tv/71215_8.html
  2. China Open 2019

For home ground advantage, CNT is doing so badly. The surviving Mixed Doubles pair of XX/CM has been booted out by Taipei's LYJ/CIC. Pretty exciting prospects now but personally I think that the winner of the SF match between LYJ/CIC and KokiMima will eventually go on to clinch gold.
  3. China Open 2019

Main Draw Day 1 Highlights (For Me) Men's Singles - Lin Gaoyuan vs Yoshimura Maharu: While Lin is the favourite on paper, I was actually really impressed with Yoshimura during the XD finals. He had some very creative returns and unpredictable play then which hopefully he can bring those over...
  4. China Open 2019

Mixed Doubles Main Draw I believe the fight will be a lot more intense for the second half.
  5. China Open 2019

  6. China Open 2019

Qualifications Highlights (For Me) Men's Singles - Rising stars Kanak Jha and Anton Kallberg will likely end up fighting for the same slot to advance to the main draw, although Stefan Fergerl and Yuto Kizukuri may not let them have their way - Both left-handers, Chinese Taipei's Lin Yun-ju...
  7. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

To make it clear, I don't use racism lightly or as a buzzword. I wrote that because the article referenced, which could have contained inaccuracies because it was translated into Chinese from Japanese, explicitly stated that the JNT questioned the impartiality of the umpire because she speaks...
  8. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

Zeio needs to preside all Japanese-Chinese matches in the future because you speak both languages and can communicate with both teams. Clearly, an English-speaking umpire is not gonna work because the Chinese and Japanese are not conversant in that (at least that's how it seems during...
  9. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

Agreed, their body language betrayed them IMO. Seems like they just wanted to ride on the mistake of the umpire. Ultimately, it is the umpire's call but they probably should have said something like admitting to receiving the ball as per usual, especially since they speak the same language...
  10. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

Well, the JNT (Mika Baba) has filed a formal complaint to ITTF and asked that the hawk-eye system be installed for Tokyo 2020. When interviewed, Hayata was adamant that she did not serve the ball into the net, neither did the trajectory change and believes that even the Chinese players do not...
  11. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

Both Ito's (1800 to 900) and Hirano's (2400 to 1500) points will drop by 900 so unlikely that the latter will come out in front.
  12. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

Nah, he probably stole it from her.
  13. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

Although chances are slim but I think Falck winning the title will be the best for everyone. Having a non-Chinese winner sends an encouraging signal to the rest of the world. Likewise if ML were to lose, it will spur the CNT to seriously groom the next generation of male players. Compared to the...
  14. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

I quote this from the Women's Singles press conference: "I didn't have a coach last year which made me feel really down, till the point that I almost wanted to give up. Hence, my sincerest thanks and appreciation to President Liu (Guo Liang) and Coach Ma Lin for believing in me!"...
  15. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

Does anyone have links to the press conferences for the events that have ended? Mixed Doubles and Women's Singles. Seen pictures but no full videos.
  16. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

I think that's the headache. Playing three events is frowned upon so if she gets singles (and team by default then), she might have to give up mixed doubles. If she plays mixed doubles (and team by default), she may have to give up singles. But still many months left in 2019 so really hard to say.
  17. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

LIU SHIWEN! LIU SHIWEN!! LIU SHIWEN!!!! Only she could create two 11-0 sets against her teammates.
  18. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

That's true. Sorry I forgot about her being the champion because she just did so badly during the last three sets earlier on. OTOH if CM wins, Ma Lin will be busy and probably torn helping her and LSW prepare for the finals since they now share the same coach.
  19. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

Seems like the favourites for Olympics will be Liu Shiwen, Chen Meng and Wang Manyu after the WTTC. DN crumbled during her SF w WMY during Qatar and now against LSW.
  20. World Table Tennis Championships 2019

LSW was testing the waters. To add salt to the wound, she hasn't even utilised her high toss serve the entire match due to the lighting and DN had so much trouble with her hook serve already. But the finals will be tough.
