So I watched the video - a lot of it squares with how I understand rubbers, I used to read a blog called "Thoughts on table tennis" that for some reason disappeared, but it was really good IMHO, and helped me build some of my thoughts on how equipment worked. This reminds me a bit of that.

Something about how Harimoto plays doubles is too backhand oriented. Is the problem her or is it how Odo's prior shot sets her up? In any case the Chinese are trying to exploit it as best they can.

That said, pros have trained hard enough to be able to carry their body weight on either foot and explode into position if their balance is not compromised so rhey have options. Most players will have to make more nuanced choices based on their preferred plays. I am trying to get more weight on...
