  2. Flexible blade hard rubbers, even for looper?

Watch the All about Tenergy videos and read articles. There used to be a really good blog that explained it. Basically, throw is not consistent at different degrees of impact. Moreover, harder rubber could mean harder topsheet or harder sponge. Harder sponge is mostly faster and hence lower...
  3. Japan Women's Race to Tokyo 2020 Singles

Note that a couple of the players you listed are Chinese exports, so you are really left with Fukuhara. Your point is taken, and maybe the standard for threat is set too low. Maybe the CNT is just so bored that they are looking for an opportunity to rally your team around an enemy. But I...
  4. Often hitting the upper edge of the racket

The answer to this question varies depending on your technique and playing level. Regardless of what you think, you are predicting where you think the ball will be when you try to hit it. You may just be playing opponents with more topspin and hitting the racket edge more often. The other...
  5. Japan Women's Race to Tokyo 2020 Singles

The subject was not whether Ito or Harimoto supposedly have fundamental flaws - even Xu Xin has a relatively weak backhand and he has been CNT A his whole life. It was whether the Chinese team considered Ito a serious threat. You make it sound as if anyone was even scaring or winning matches...
  6. Short Topspin Serve with Pendulum Motion

Guys, a lot of these arguments can be resolved by posting video and focusing on actual serves not arguing forever. DerEchte has some of the best topspin short serves you may ever face so listen to the man. I use short topspin with sidespin. For me the serve can go longer since topspin wants...
  7. Looking for good flexible blade

The thing is that what I call flexy is what people would call snail packed and what you call flexy is what I would call a brick. Start here. http://www.ttbla.de/
  8. Reverse engineering chinese dominance

I think anyone can play with Hurricane these days, players on the JNT and KNT use it. Harimoto and Lin Yun Ju also show it is quite possible to have good short game skills without using tacky rubber. So for me, the real thing is the incentives and the population of the Chinese and their...
  9. Article: Hong Kong Open 2019 - Have the top Chinese managed to tame Harimoto?

The article is kinda weird. Harimoto beat Zhou Yu who is also CNT. There is no winning formula, the key is what a player is able to execute given their skills and Harimoto's limited experience.
  10. Hong Kong Open 2019 - Have the top Chinese managed to tame Harimoto?

The article is kinda weird. Harimoto beat Zhou Yu who is also CNT. There is no winning formula, the key is what a player is able to execute given their skills and Harimoto's limited experience.
  11. European Games 2019

Amelie Solja may be there, she just wouldn't be seeded. And if she isn't at all, then Austria has more than 2 players better than her (Polcanova is definitely #1 but not sure whether #2 would be Liu Jia or Hamamoto). Polcanova and Petrissa can beat Szocs, I have no doubt in my mind about that.
  12. Japan Women's Race to Tokyo 2020 Singles

China may have agreed to pull 5 players just to make the event more diverse and because of the national championships. Which 5 is open. I would have thought the 5 going would be DN, LSW, CM, WMY and ZYL because those are the players with a legit chance of playing in the Olympics.
  13. Japan Women's Race to Tokyo 2020 Singles

Actually, in various ways, we do. No need to make it sound like we don't hear from the players themselves how much they practice dealing with her with the pips practice partners and how the pips players have gotten more prominence because of Ito's rise. Dealing with a threat successfully is...
  14. Flexible blade hard rubbers, even for looper?

First of all, people don't often define what they mean by hard or soft rubber. The original article was from a Japanese magazine and I am not sure they even defined hard or soft sponge or rubber. For example, is soft mostly about the sponge or the topsheet? Soft sponge is very different from...
  15. Japan Women's Race to Tokyo 2020 Singles

I guess that closes the discussion of who are the candidates for men's singles on the men's side. Who did the CNT send on the women's side? That also says a lot.
  16. Flexible blade hard rubbers, even for looper?

No I haven't tried the P1. C1 is slower, lighter and easier to spin with than G1. Otherwise it is the same topsheet, just a softer sponge.
  17. Flexible blade hard rubbers, even for looper?

The other thing is that soft sponge is not the same as soft topsheet and hard sponge is not the same as hard topsheet. T05 has a hard topsheet. That is why it arcs thr ball so much. T80 is softer and T64 is softer still in terms of topsheet. T05FX has had topsheet with soft sponge. Fastarc G1...
  18. Serve and attack strategies

Here is a Larry Hodges article that is at least partly related. https://butterflyonline.com/tip-week-serve-forehand-loop/
  19. Serve and attack strategies

This is the first of a 3 or 4 video series that discusses the subject a little. https://youtu.be/NQpv4iDsYyk
  20. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Play handicap with a much better player and try to be consistent and see what happens. Your training hours will never match theirs, so you need to hit winners or fool them enough times to win the match. Yoass didn't rush that much he took the risk that was required to beat the player. Looking...
