Yet another "new" blade, as amateur players we should stop buying "new" equipment thinking our game will improve. Most amateur players would play better with an allwood blade instead of the fast carbon blades.

Wow, very expensive. I guess production cost is about 2-4€ for one rubber.

I only use a bit of "lamp oil" on the top sheet just to get the spin back. It saves me from buying a new rubber every 6 months. It only restores most of the grip of the rubber, doesn't do that much. I don't want to spend between 30 to 80 € on a new rubber just to play on a regional shitty...

Let's not forget that the pro players get different rubbers than the mass production ones.

I once lent the Viscaria of one of my clubs mates and played some really great matches with it. I think it is an exceptional blade, it was paired with DHS H3 rubber both FH and BH. When u hit correct shots with it, it produces wonderful quality shots. But aren't there lots of ALC blades about...

The service rules are totally impossible to judge correctly. As a former umpire i know it is impossible to always judge correctly. The ITTF should make the service rule very clear and strict. SO not the ridiculous 16 cm height toss but something like min. 50 cm -> no more doubt needed, even a 40...

Truls wil win it and then lose to Zhendong. Hugo needs a player with a certain rhythm, Truls makes too many irregular balls for Hugo.

It is clear it was the pips that hindered the player who plays with normal backside rubber a lot here. These pips are a disgrace for table tennis and should be a separate competition. Matches like this one clearly prove this fact. The fact that more and more pips rubbers are being considered...

The product role of this rubber is to fill the pockets of Butterfly and ITTF staff ;-) Lets be honest, "new" rubbers being launched hardly make any difference at all.

In the end there seems to be very little measurable rubber characteristics data available to consumers. Its because of marketing i guess. How can we as end consumers know the real difference between rubbers/boosting etc ... Just by trying the rubbers? $$$$$ ... in the pocket of the rubber...

I think the one ply blades are too heavy because too thick. All pro players use ALC-ZLC ... ply blades (5 or 7 ply). The plastic ball being less spinny/fast makes this even more necessary.

Indeed, not a lot of pro's use overgrip. I do remember Valdimir Samsonov using quite a lot of grip tape on his handles during his later years (i guess 2010-2018). At that moment i think he was still in the top 20-30 of the world.

When you use WD40 or lamp oil (kerosene) on the sponge (just one or 2 thin layers!), these liquids do boost the rubber!

For a beginner, it is better to use a slower blade, an allround all wood blade. The Tibhar Champ costs about 15€ and is an excellent blade. A guy i know who has been playing about 15 years now still uses it. He has about 1700 ELO rating (VTTL) , and plays in Flemish competition in 1st provincial...

Just use WD40 (a few drops and spread with a soft toilet paper) or lamp oil, also a few drops. Use it on the sponge and/or on the rubber. Always start thin.; Works great for reviving old rubbers that lost their spin.
