  1. Men's World Cup 2017

I feel a bit depressed that Dima is going to win this without beating a Chinese player. But I guess you don't make your draw.
  2. Men's World Cup 2017

I have felt for a long time that head issues aside, Shibaev should really be the European #1 or somewhere very close. IT's just a waste of talent.
  3. Men's World Cup 2017

I really don't think it is up in the air.
  4. Two HUGE losses for Lin Gaoyuan. What will this mean?

I don't think the original post gets to the heart of the issue - LGY is a top 4 player in CNT now. It is really going to depend on whether the other players are beating the players that Lin Gaoyuan is losing to. I don't think anyone could guarantee that LJK or FB would beat Timo Boll right...
  5. Men's World Cup 2017

Gustavo's body language is that of someone who ended up realizing that he can't win a point if he is trying to do so and that he just has to play and enjoy the match. Timo has also realized he can win whenever he (Timo) raises his quality and has gotten lazy as well.
  6. Men's World Cup 2017

Why did I see that coming? Timo from 4-10 to 12-10. IT wasn't demoralizing = the difference in class is too obvious and Tsuboi couldn't win a point when he had to come up with a play to do so.
  7. Men's World Cup 2017

Lin has beaten both Boll and Freitas recently, I believe.

Since I can't move, trying to build a stroke that takes the ball earlier. My recovery isn't good though that might be the drill speed. Comments welcome (don't worry, I won't defend myself, just looking to see if anything anyone recommends can help).

Good question which we may never know the answer to since getting away from the larger head size of the Vega Series was a part of this switch.
  10. Butterfly Marcos Freitas ALC Blade Review!

Why is this bot posting here? Is it an experiment that the site owners are in on?
  11. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

My new weapons of choice. $80 for blade, $30 per rubber. Result is priceless.
  12. New Tenergy Rubbers! Tenergy 05N and Tenergy 09C

Man.... I am sure Butterfly got their hands on the Darkhold before making these rubbers..
  13. Do you like to topspin, flat hit or both?

I almost only flat hit when jammed or when flicking/blocking. Almost all my full strokes even against high balls are topspins.
  14. Men's World Cup 2017

The players Dima needs to beat are the ones he didn't/doesn't play at the T2 APAC and ECL. This has been largely the case at many tournaments for years now, only obscured by a few choke jobs at Olympics and WTTCs.

Not 100% aggression, but to increase the level of your 60-70% shots so that to a lower player, they look like 100% aggression. Consistency without power is not enough, as you said, the Chinese train to increase the power and don't make consistency an absolute. Nowadays, spin that bothers your...
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yes, but it is because your "much power" is not produced consistently. The way I like to describe it is: 1. If the ball is low or tricky, meaning you need time and consistency, spin it up. 2. If the ball is high or easy, drive it. 3. With practice, you want to make more balls go from...

So I am playing with Koto ALC for the first time and trying to somewhat imitate my favorite player, Timo Boll, only of course with a straighter arm technique and a lack of footwork :D. It has been an interesting process. For me, the biggest appeal of Vega Pro is the price. To be able to find...

My own position is simple - if you can hit a powerful topspin with consistent technique and place it in the middle of the table to receive a consistent block (which is something usually only 2300+ players can do and I really mean 2500+), then go ahead. Most people under 2300 looping with power...
  19. Men's World Cup 2017

Depends on whether there is a rule in the draw that places them on opposite sides if they both win their groups. There often is in ITTF events that limit countries to two participants.
