  3. German Association Reject Ovtcharov & Mizutani's doubles bid! WTTC 2017!

That is evidence, we rarely see those players in Doubles at all. Even last WTTC, did Dima play doubles? Mizutani was a good doubles player but again, is he going to be the one to push out good players like Yoshimura who probably deserves to play singles? And like I said, Samsonov is almost a...
  4. German Association Reject Ovtcharov & Mizutani's doubles bid! WTTC 2017!

Odd and makes no sense, since he would be limiting China's doubles partners opportunities. I think he was just trying to make a comparison to Boll though without offending Boll. IMO, the only realistic pairing is Samsonov (Mizutani would have limited Japan's teams), and Samsonov is not a beast...
  5. German Association Reject Ovtcharov & Mizutani's doubles bid! WTTC 2017!

It seems Germany is allowed 3 entries. I think the issue is Dima's doubles ability and the idea of having all three pairings be with foreigners.
  6. German Association Reject Ovtcharov & Mizutani's doubles bid! WTTC 2017!

Every country is allowed two pairings (not sure about hosts), and Dima and JM would not allow Germany one more player. It probably makes more sense for Germany to field another home duo. Medal chances also factor in and Dima is not necessarily the best doubles player in the world.

I don't think he understands the nature of the problem. He probably thinks every country has China and Japan's allocation to TT.
  10. Matthew Syed Admits Cheating!

I even have my incident on tape. It was match point. The ball rolled into my court after the point was over but I thought it interfered with my concentration. I would have let it go but my opponent offered me the let and I took it. I don't feel guilty but it does creep into my mind once in a...

It's what I do, sometimes it is arguing, sometimes it is just suggesting disagreement with a position. If you were following the thread, you will notice that he didn't respond to this post here where I had already conceded the main point and agreed with him. So maybe he just wanted to argue...

  13. CNT Closed Training for WTTC 2017

This whole argument is very puzzling. LGY was not a choice, he was a qualifier.

You seem mostly okay in rally. Gotta tighten the serve and receive part. Usually, if you get level or take a small advantage on serve (get him to push and you open with a topspin) or if you topspin his serve, you usually come out ahead in the point. So mostly, serve short and receive with topspin.
  15. Righties versus Lefties in Table Tennis

From Larry Hodges blog: Righties versus Lefties Here’s an interesting interactive chartshowing that of the top 300 men and women in the world, 24.75% and 18.47% respectively are lefties, which are above the worldwide average for left-handedness which is about 10% (according to Wikipedia)...

  17. Righties versus Lefties in Table Tennis

I actually good to the USATT 2000 level in part becauss my backhand play was much stronger than my forehand play and playees often did not realize it until it was too late and wven if they did, they often lacked the ability to execute the patterns of play that would exploit the issue. I think a...
  18. Righties versus Lefties in Table Tennis

Sometimes, we have to read what other people are writing to understand what the issue is.
  19. Righties versus Lefties in Table Tennis

The reason why is that there is an advantage from being left handed that is similar to the advantage that you have by using pips etc. Once you practice against it sufficiently, it goes away, but it doesn't prevent the lefties from performing better at lower levels and it doesn't prevent them...

If they can't beat Lin Gaoyuan, they should really be wondering what they are doing at the WTTC.
