  1. Adidas to discontinue table tennis products

Great post Andy. Could hit the like button 3 times if it mattered.
  2. Zhang Jike CONFIRMED and will play singles at Rio Olympics 2016!

Cai Zhenhua was never a World or Olympic Singles champion either, BTW. If the policy is new, then so be it. LSW and XX have not won a WTTC singles medal. They both have Olympics team medals which should count for something. In the end, the two athletes per country rule helps many more...
  3. Zhang Jike CONFIRMED and will play singles at Rio Olympics 2016!

TTT, I am not clear what your argument is. At least, I see that you are willing to consider that the Olympic TT funding might get better with less Chinese dominance of the three medal spots. That's all the restriction does. It gives another country a higher chance of getting a medal. I can...
  4. Adidas to discontinue table tennis products

Airoc, you seem to be giving manufacturers and ESN too much credit in rubber innovation. Things like Tenergy 05 and Evolution MX-P are accidents, not plans. Donic supposedly owns ESN and where are their innovations?
  5. stratus powerwood

The straight handled SPW tends to slip unless you have a high grip on the handle. I use grip tape as well. I think buying tennis grip tape and using half of the amount given for a tennis racket is the best. Cheaper than TT grip tape which is the same but overpriced.
  6. Same rubber on both sides for offensive players

Some of them are women, and most of the men do use Tenergy, especially 05. But the gap with ESN is not as large as it used to be and other brands are now used at the top as well.
  7. Same rubber on both sides for offensive players

Yes, was thinking of Gauzy and co.
  8. Croatia Open -last attempt before olympics?

Olympic seeding is the reason. The seeding is based on the August list.

Hmm - kowabunga's post just disappeared...
  10. fake blades vs yankee purists

Baal, great posts, but I warn you again (I know the posts were for the benefits of others, but in case you were trying to speak to kowabunga): Again, anyone taking kowabunga seriously is better off scratching a kettle with their bare knuckles.
  11. Same rubber on both sides for offensive players

There are more exceptions than you think. We really don't know what is out there to be honest. Quadri Aruna uses Joola rubbers, for example.

Again, anyone taking kowabunga seriously is better off scratching a kettle with their bare knuckles.
  13. Same rubber on both sides for offensive players

My feeling exactly. Baal is letting his personal experiences bias him too strongly. The Chinese approach should have settled this already.

  16. Thoughts on Playstyle?

Not playing well is not the problem with lower rated players giving advice. Pretending they know what they don't know is. We have all done it, so we know it. But the danger is that when players pretend to know things that they do not and are not parroting better players, they end up saying...
  17. Thoughts on Playstyle?

Samson Dubina has a give-me-your-best-shot drill that you might like. Someone serves to you and you pop the ball up and then try to bring the attack back. Maybe that is what you are looking for,
  18. Thoughts on Playstyle?

IMO, you are diagnosing the problem wrongly. The real issue is either the predictability of your attacks or the unpredictability of those of our opponents. First of all, no one should be bringing back a powerful third ball attack. Otherwise, it just wasn't that powerful. The exceptions are...
  19. Question about blocking...

David, There are quite a few higher level anti and pips players than Mark Berg.
  20. Zhang Jike CONFIRMED and will play singles at Rio Olympics 2016!

No, I have not. China still gets three gold medallists in the team event and are still the top nation, so the total number of medalling athletes is the same. The sport is getting killed by more prestigious sports and computer games. I have generally understood why people say that the Olympics...
