  1. Shuki Development and Questions

This is a lower rated player so you got away with a lot of stuff, like long serves and high pushes. But that happens all the time. You are playing with a very interesting grip to say the least and because of how it limits your play, I can't stop focusing on it when I watch every stroke. Since...

  3. everything feels so slow....

Kowabonga likes doing whatever gives him kicks. As long as you just don't get sucked too hard into the play, it all works out.

ttmonster, Let's just say that if you read loopadoop's posts on other forums, you wouldn't be surprised by what he is writing. He has an inimitable writing and notation style and a unique approach to TT.

  7. World Team Championship 2016 - TTD Comp Winner!

Most people put in one Bronze medallist, not two. It is unlikely that either winner guessed England.
  8. Shuki Development and Questions

Yeah. Come to think of it, that's probably a huge part of my problem as well. I remember SchemeSC asking me why I often reached out to the forehand with a very straight arm when flicking or returning serve and I might have given him some answer related to my recovery and bad movement, but its...
  9. Andro Rasant Beat Review

Did you try putting this in the review section?
  10. Shuki Development and Questions

You are supposed to bend your wrist backwards as if you are making the same racket angle that your backhand has naturally with your forehand. So you can contact the inside edge of the ball. The alternative is a hooking continue the spin stroke. Good luck with it, this issue still confuses me...
  11. F/h topspin practice

A video is worth a lot of words...
  12. "Corkscrew" vs side top loop

To be fair, it still messes me up sometimes. So I use the word equator to describe where the rotation is fastest so I don't get as confused anymore.
  13. "Corkscrew" vs side top loop

No. It is spinning on a vertical axis. The string around which the ball is spinning is the axis.
  14. Transition from a more traditional to a shallow grip

Your playing distance is a function of your technique. Since you enjoy playing full strokes and do so, I wouldn't be worried about it. Since your opponent is a blocker, you could gain a little by play closer to the table and taking the ball earlier to end points, but you would have to practice...
  15. The joy of winning a table tennis match!

Aruna already did that at the CW games in 2014 or so...
  16. Confused and intimidated by xiom rubbers :c

It all depends on what you are used to. I trained my forehand with Chinese rubber so I like Omega V Asia the best. When you brush, the arc is high and when you drive, the trajectory flattens out quickly. It is hard sponge so it requires more energy than most rubbers.
  17. "Corkscrew" vs side top loop

So there is a lot of stuff in here that I didn't address. I never saw your original sidespin stroke. But it is important to be able to hit topspin because topspin dips and travels straight. Sidespin requires touch - you can't hit it hard - you need to rely on the incoming backspin. Corkscrew...
  18. Forehand problem & sessions

To get proper feedback, you almost always have to post video. Otherwise, you will only get good general advice.
  19. "Corkscrew" vs side top loop

The main reason you couldn't get topspin was probably because you weren't swinging in a straight line, if I had to bet. That's the main thing I notice with people who have this problem - their strokes tend to be shallow and finish low (across the body) habitually. Again, you can treat most of...
  20. "Corkscrew" vs side top loop

I would add that you would generate some "sidespin" if you contacted the ball late as well.
