  1. Totally frustrated and fed up!!!!!!

hopper, Andy has been playing for 6 months - he hasn't reached that level of awareness.
  2. New rubber

Which is why this thread makes me smile... like I said elsewhere, it all depends on your view of what equipment does for you game.
  3. Totally frustrated and fed up!!!!!!

Thanks, SugaD. Thanks again, SugaD. The above things are what I have tried to tell Andy. Especially the part that if his teammates practice, they should know what stage he is at. The problem sometimes though is that people who have not significantly improved do not know what it takes to...
  4. Totally frustrated and fed up!!!!!!

You have 2.5 years left. You can do it for 6 months and see if it helps but while I may be wrong, my experience is that the true practical learning comes when you make your practice more similar to matches. You haven't hit that stage yet, but part of the problem is that there is a difference...
  5. Asian Championships 2015

The CCTV5 link provided has amazing quality.
  6. TT Myth Busters

In the same way you believe you can loop while killing spin on the ball? Sure. Not all of us are dumb enough to confuse language with knowledge. You are.
  7. Amateur player with a crazy Backhand

That is what happens to Tenergy 05 when you loop extremely hard. That said, it is clearly his technique. He could probably do similar things with spinny short pips with that racket head speed.
  8. Amateur player with a crazy Backhand

Thanks for that. The tennis backswing and the coiling of the wrist and elbow on the take-back is excellent. I hope the people trying to correct me can judge for themselves whether his stroke is a hit or a loop drive. Just because he is hitting the ball hard doesn't mean that the stroke is...
  9. Amateur player with a crazy Backhand

They aren't hits, they are loop drives, and the video only shows his makes, so you don't get to see the limitations of the technique. IT's good, but I don't know about the percentages. I have arthritis so I can't try that any more.
  10. European Championships 2015 (Team Event)

Shibaev-Gardos was amazing. Shibaev and Gacina share the award for heroes of lost causes.
  11. Table Length Psychology

It won't make much of a difference other than maybe helping your mind adjust. It might hurt at a higher level in specific ways. Table tennis is a precision sport as well as an accuracy sport so being able to put the ball at precise locations is pretty critical. My guess is that many of the...
  12. Butterfly just increased prices of the equipment

Megaspin works with Butterfly NA as well. The only thing that didn't change quickly enuff was T05. Not sure whose fault that was.
  13. TTEdge Executing Table Tennis Shots Series!

On a slightly more serious note, one of the things I appreciated yesterday that with more footwork drilling, my timing for moving towards the ball would be different. What do I mean? I am realizing that moving towards the ball when it is hit is not necessarily a good thing! It's often better...
  14. European Championships 2015 (Team Event)

Portugal won when Timo could play (though Ovtcharov was not 100%). Even with Timo, Portugal has the players to win. I think that it is 50-50 in either case because the Portugal players tend to elevate their game as a team - Freitas, Appolonia, Monteiro, Geraldo - its just a great team.
  15. Learn the Reverse Pendulum Backspin serve. It has helped me a lot!

The demo serve contact definitely had backspin. The others were a bit different.
  16. Mindfulness & table tennis

People should give the thumbs up heavily to one of the best posts ever above. I emboldened and enlarged my favorite parts. As someone who works closely with Andy, I initially found it puzzling that he was asking questions so early in his table tennis experience about the mental part of the...
  17. Learn the Reverse Pendulum Backspin serve. It has helped me a lot!

No, it's not just yours and in fact, it is one of the things I don't like about the serve. The main reason why I still use it occasionally is that the mere use of it still gives opponents trouble at my level and that my backspin is heavy enough to get me at least one point when I first use it...
  18. Learn the Reverse Pendulum Backspin serve. It has helped me a lot!

Yeah, many people are doing this now - wonder why Brett went with the ancient version of the serve.
  19. Greetings from Ireland!
