  1. ITTF-Pan American Cup-2025

There are many valid opinions to have about table tennis, but Jason Louie being better than Simeon Martin at this current time is not one of them. They have recent and accurate ratings of 2350 and 2550 USATT for a reason.
  2. ITTF-Pan American Cup-2025

My point is you don't know that CTTA didn't select him, unless you do. Budgets and funding limits exist. Players are not forced to go to tournaments, oftentimes if they do not want to spend large amounts of money to go somewhere and lose one match without any other incentive, they don't. You...
  3. DONIC New Zhang Jike blade

How can anyone talk about anything else for a blade that isn't released yet?
  4. ITTF-Pan American Cup-2025

He is 2350 USATT level, he has no chance at a tournament like this to even make it out of preliminaries. There could be eligibility or other reasons at play. Do you know that CTTA didn't give him a chance?
  5. ITTF-Pan American Cup-2025

Laurent and Aaron are in the preliminaries.
  6. ITTF-Pan American Cup-2025

Those Pan Am players are strong against Pan Am players too. It isn't unreasonable to pick Edward to go to the final depending how the draw ends up, but I wouldn't say he's a favorite against the field to make it to the final. We will see. Retired Eugene is still many levels above Simeon lol...
  7. ITTF-Pan American Cup-2025

Nah... I appreciate Ly's game as much as anyone but you clearly aren't familiar with the games of some of these Pan Am players. It would not really be a big upset for Edward to lose to any of Mino, Cifuentes, Eugene, Teodoro, Aguirre, Ishiy or Iizuka.... And yes I am aware what he did last year...
  8. A guide to buying and choosing table tennis equipment from an Intermediate player and EJ

I think you may be misinterpreting their advice or thinking that what good players prefer for themselves applies to what beginner/intermediate players need in order to improve, according to you. I would be very surprised if those good players are familiar with coaching and, if you asked them to...
  9. A guide to buying and choosing table tennis equipment from an Intermediate player and EJ

There's a big difference between something being suitable for a beginner/intermediate and something being necessary to improve, which is what you are saying. Those students are improving because of the coach and their training, not because they are using 50-53 hardness hybrid rubbers or whatever.
  10. DONIC New Zhang Jike blade

There are endless discussions about suitability and performance of equipment, it's like 90% of the threads on this forum. This blade hasn't been released yet so nobody can talk about its suitability and performance yet but the ugly design certainly sticks out.
  11. alternatives to tenergy 05

And about 50% of the top end performance....might as well just use Rozena for the spring sponge at that point.
  12. A guide to buying and choosing table tennis equipment from an Intermediate player and EJ

Is it proven to work with a lot of players? Have you seen a lot of beginner and intermediate players improve their game solely because they switched to hybrid rubbers and inner carbon blades?
  13. A guide to buying and choosing table tennis equipment from an Intermediate player and EJ

How many actual rubbers and blades have you tried that you are basing your guide on? 1000 CAD doesn't buy much...
  14. alternatives to tenergy 05

C55 will not be like T05 in any way, but I think this thread is definitely a "search the forum" situation, this question has been asked forever
  15. DONIC New Zhang Jike blade

DONIC blades tend to be cheaper. If the Anders Lind ~65 euro is any indication, this shouldn't be too far out of that range unless they are trying to shamelessly price gouge ZJK fans.
  16. A guide to buying and choosing table tennis equipment from an Intermediate player and EJ

1000 CAD is roughly 700 USD, that isn't very much at all for nearly 2 years of equipment, and definitely not what I would consider "EJing". How many different blades and rubbers have you tried that you are basing this guide on? I mostly agree with the exception of the Long 5 - inner carbon or...
  17. Major League Table Tennis (MLTT)

Credit where credit is due, as Mati takes Lily 2-1 today. Both Amy and Lily struggled to adapt to her slow game, and she executed much better than usual. Back to training perhaps?
