    When you are learning you have to feel how ball penetrates sponge to made topspin, the sensation to made topspin arc to control the ball goes to table and where to place the ball. Sticky topsheet with hard sponge isn't the best way to learn. Also Chinese boosted rubbers isn't for beginners...

    Apart of non enforced rules, the problem in pro level is that nobody wants to take disadvantage so better to boost because you don't know if the other player is boosting or not.

    Play long without spin so not topspin nor backspin only driving FB or BH, don't play short because if he his good surely open angles and you will die, maximum you could do soft topspin for your control but bear in mind that all spin you do he converts in disruption & backspin so better no feed...

    I tried with old balls & speed glue;) Still very good power, spin & speed using Stiga All Round Classic all wood 5 plies....

    Hard sponge rubbers with enough power strength & technique = you can get the most topspin or backspin or sidespin. Soft sponge rubber no needed of power strength no need technique = easy spin but not the most as you can get with hard sponges.
