  1. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

I agree that pushing sidetopspin short is extremely difficult and an advanced skill (around my circles only my penhold inverted/LP training partner can do it consistently, I can do it but it requires a really good read of the incoming ball, not much room for error) but pushing long is much...
  2. I lost my spark for playing TT

I'm actually thinking about teaching mine how to become a long pips pushblocker - since that is probably the quickest path she can become a reasonably good player lol...
  3. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Honestly I'm surprised that quality pushes against no spin and sidetopspin are considered strange/controversial here....I see them done all the time where I play especially by the old guys....
  4. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Hmm, I would say that the long pushes against sidetopspin are the heaviest - it's the same principle as looping heavy backspin is spinnier than looping no spin or topspin. No spin is the hardest to push heavy off simply because there's nothing to borrow, but it's still very possible if you use...
  5. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Now that you say this, I agree it's not trivial... I think all of the ones I learnt from is in Chinese, the English tutorials don't seem to cover pushing well for some reason (especially on the use of the body in the push which imo is the most important aspect) Imo a good push means you can...
  6. Backhand rubbers? Is d09c too much for a beginner-intermediate player?

Out of interest, how long did those sheets last (in terms of maintaining high performance)
  7. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

It's trivial to push high quality (low, deep with heavy spin) against light backspin or dead ....if you pop it up it means you misread the spin.
  8. How Did I Win or Lose a Match?

Yes, you can't do half hearted shots against pips, it can backfire hard. Also imo playing flat can be even worse especially if you're used to spinning to control the trajectory because it's simply not your game. Imo the problem is that if you loop and then they chopblock it, the backspin can be...
  9. Any experiences of the Victas V > 15 Extra?

Yes I felt the same way - it's maybe a good FH rubber but for BH the spin is a bit too hard to activate especially on chiquita and strawberry shots unless you have some ridiculous finger/wrist power. Koki Niwa doesn't do much of strong chiquita while Liam has some insane wrist power which is...
  10. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Damn... I pretty much refuse to play at venues where it's slippery - it's just a safety hazard imo, I've managed to fall 2 or 3 times at venues like that, luckily I'm young and fit so it didn't hurt much. Often it's just dust and grime which accumulates on the floor and doesn't get cleaned.
  11. Is body type giving any form of advantage?

A bit out of topic here - although a high level TT can be achieved with subpar fitness, a good fit strong body is very valuable in life's many other aspects and significantly increases quality of life. This is why I too like to hit the gym and play aggressive table tennis to get a good workout.
  12. Any experiences of the Victas V > 15 Extra?

I tried it on my BH and it was pretty trash with spin generation (I'm comparing it with Dignics 05), pretty hopeless if you love the chiquita and strawberry shots like me. You need full on loops to produce a lot of spin. However, it is very spin insensitive - my friend who loves BH punching...
  13. How good will Lin Shidong be?

He is probably the best junior in China now, followed by probably Xiang Peng whom I haven't seen around recently for some reason
  14. Miwa Harimoto

Not sure if WTT is ever gonna do the Hawkeye thing to measure RPM on shots again, but I'm fairly confident if they measure the spin on her loops it'll be in the 6000+rpm range at least, probably equal to or even exceeding Wang Manyu's. Those dips on the trajectory are insane!
  15. Backhand rubbers? Is d09c too much for a beginner-intermediate player?

Interesting to see that ppl had the same experience with 09c that I had too. I went to Hurricane 8-80 for this exact reason. Funnily enough, D05 lasts almost forever... not sure why 09c is plagued with these issues.
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Hmm I think the 38 deg version is better in all aspects. I tried the 37 deg version and it wasn't that good either. Boosted H3 and 09c is a pretty high bar to meet tho - I think Hurricane 8-80 is sort of 90% there only...
  17. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Based on your stroke, I think you'll love Hurricane 8-80, the 38 deg version - it's dirt cheap and the dwell time is enormous like 09c, so is the spin production. I reckon it lasts longer than 09c too. I'm a 09c hater now lol, I reckon Butterfly got way too greedy and put in some "planned...
  18. Backhand rubbers? Is d09c too much for a beginner-intermediate player?

I feel like 2 yr ago they changed the 09c formulation to make it last much shorter, everyone around me complained about the short lived performance....
  19. Do you play with equipment above your level?

Tbh, it's either you get control from the setup and then develop the skills to generate power, or you get power from the setup and then develop the skills to control the ball - almost everything is on this spectrum. That's from a speed point of view. Also, the more spinny a rubber is, the more...
  20. Is body type giving any form of advantage?

He has just incredible ball feeling and technique especially the spin generation, momentum control (he knows how to make fast shots slow, slow shots fast, etc... in a way that maximizes landing percentages) and his placement is just insane. He frequently beats CNT provincial level players which...
