  1. I wanna play with the big boys!

Thats not what I said. You can't just slap on LP and expect easy returns etc without skill. Without skill you will get a pretty obvious return that's actually attackable.
  2. I wanna play with the big boys!

Understand its frustrating but the idea of slapping on some LP's and being about to easily block topspin and easy return serves is not totally true without any effort in a match situation. While development for inverted players is drilling the topspin, serve plus receive and working on the...
  3. I wanna play with the big boys!

Hey Gozo, You are progressing really well so no biggie on the loss.... Def don't beat yourself up about it. ...but I would say you are actually a noobie still against this style of LP play. It's not a negative it's just you haven't had the chance to get your teeth into this style and work it...
  4. I wanna play with the big boys!

Good explanation and put better than the post I just wrote before I read this! :)
  5. I wanna play with the big boys!

If the level is lower totally agree 1000% or if the player is used to playing against a similar style. 1+1=2 if they understand what's on the ball...but the times I've seen really quite strong technical players play without any understable game plan and try and just bludgeon the ball and wonder...
  6. I wanna play with the big boys!

Gozo.... Variation and awareness of... both incoming and outgoing spin and pace is a good place to start. Familiarise yourself with the effects then try combat them. Like any new skill it takes time to get good at and a different mindset maybe I would say. The more exposure you have to these...
  7. San Francisco looking for training partner.

I was thinking the same thing..
  8. I wanna play with the big boys!

Any update on FF33 who posted the topic btw?
  9. I wanna play with the big boys!

These players are really not rank amateur players are they honestly? Whatever spin that's put on it. The ability to compete at that level even with the slight handicap system they were using is outstanding. If the forum is expected to believe this there's a credibility issue occurring. I'll...
  10. I wanna play with the big boys!

This "rank amateur" has some outstanding wins doesn't he? I remember the events he's played in now.. Multiple world class players wins over multiple events. Isn't he well known in China for this amazing style...
  11. I wanna play with the big boys!

Off topic of level up to play the 1500's a bit Is the first guy really an amateur like everyone here? I honestly would say no sorry. Just because of the forehand and stroke level. It's obvious hopefully..... I think they will have played at a high level at some stage to be playing against these...
  12. I wanna play with the big boys!

FF33 I would say put yourself in at the deep end as much as you can with the setup you play with to start. See how it goes.... and fix the things you can in focussed training with players/coach/mentor. If you can move ok for age/bodytype etc then that's good. If you are a bit more limited then...
  13. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Irregular drills are great and keep you thinking on your feet. Serve, receive and the first 2-3 ball can improve results quiet a bit. Sometimes a simple well placed touch return can really open up the next stroke and put a player on the front foot.
  14. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

The takeaway from it is graft my socks off some more :)
  15. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Actually the lad I was training with is playing in it this season a few times for one of the clubs.
  16. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Trained pretty hard last night and feeling it today...... 2.5 hours of really solid level play. Trying to keep up and get ready for the new season which is coming up rather quickly it would seem!. Will need to work on service recovery quite a bit more to hold that level when the matches start...
  17. Need your help in BH rubber.

I have 3 potential options: Victas v15 limber Tenergy 05fx Butterfly Rozena Looking at your Sig using 05fx I guess on your backhand sounds a good move. Out of the 3 rubbers 05fx will be familar. D05 is also a good option. Very solid backhand rubber along with D80. What did you want from the...
  18. Creating side underspin with a loop

Good point NL. "Part of what makes the ball difficult is that many of these contacts are below the table so the returners are underestimating how much chop there is on the ball" These type of strokes and there addition into a rally are change up strokes almost if that makes sense.. If you don't...
  19. Coaching for coaches!!!!!

Trying to increase table time for younger players is key I think as others have said. Building good foundations on techniques can be hard with limited time. 1-2-1's very benifit the players. Kudos for putting in the work IB66.
