  1. Is Samsonov finished ?

There was a WTTC team match (1991) in which Kalinic defeated Waldner as Yugoslavia upset Sweden in a preliminary round. (I think it may have been the last time there was a Yugoslavian national team, I think Lupulescu was on that team too). Both teams moved on, and they ended up playing again...
  2. Nittaku premium ball

If I play with a box of NP40+ for a week or two, that is my favorite ball. If I then grab some D40+ and play with them for a couple of weeks, that becomes my favorite ball! They are really similar, and you just have to get used to the 40 mg difference in weight which is actually noticeable, but...
  3. Is Samsonov finished ?

Like Kalinic. His son is on the Serbian national basketball team. He is well paid.
  4. Nittaku premium ball

A couple of details. Nittaku and D40+ are made of very similar material (versions of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or ABS), but not identical because they are a slightly different color. The D40+ is just a tad bit heavier than the Nittaku (2.73 gram vs. 2.69 grams) and has a slightly...
  5. Nittaku premium ball

It's a great ball for sure. The new DHS D40+ is quite similar at 1/3 of the price. This WTTC used the Nittaku.
  6. Nexy Karis rubber first impressions

So, NL. Do you have the impression that far from degrading with use that Karis M almost gets better over time? I am starting to suspect it. Or maybe that it has a fairly extended break-in period?
  7. Help recommend closest blade to viscaria

Depends on which ones you get and weight I think. There is blade-to-blade variation in all of these. I have owned four ZJK-ALC blades (too many, I should probably sell them). Two of them were very similar to your usual Viscaria pretty much, and not too different from a TB-ALC, but two were...
  8. Help recommend closest blade to viscaria

Not a Taksim. The construction of that blade (if you can find one) was more like the Iolite. The inner core is much thicker and the blade is stiffer. Edit. I see someone already mentioned that. Sorry. TB-ALC would be reasonably close, or a ZJK-ALC if you can find it in CS grip.
  9. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Yep. I have an intuitive feeling that I zhould not chsnge the sheets until it is absolutely essential.
  10. Nexy Karis rubber first impressions

I also had to make some adjustments to Karis M on my BH (compared to MX-P or T05) but now I love it. I would say it took me a full month to really regain the power on that side. In contrast to someone else, my sheets of Karis M are holding their performance remarkably well. I won't know for a...
  11. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I hadn't seen this post but on my way from Koeln to Frankfurt, that is more or less how I went. Stopped in Koblenz for lunch. My rental car was garbage and not much fun on the autobahn so that was better for lots of reasons. Had spent the weekend previously in Utrecht, Amsterdam and Leiden...
  12. Bodybuilding in Tabletennis !

Cycling has helped me a lot with my footwork because it has equalized the strength in my two legs. So I stay a lot more balanced. At one point Brian Pace did the same thing, and later started to compete as a mountain biker. I am not going to do that! But this has had the biggest impact on my...

Carsten My TTD mailbox was full and i think i missed a message from you. Can you resend? Back in Houston. Trying to recover from jet lag. Played Sunday. Was thinking you would like a lot of the people at my club.
  14. World Table Tennis Championships 2017

    What an interesting analysis. Thanks!
  15. Article: Ma Long Graduates At Shanghai University 2017!

Not at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai. As Tropical said, this is the Chinese equivalent of Stanford and if Ma Long has a degree from there, it is not because he went through anything remotely resembling the normal course of study, but rather in the cause of Chinese propaganda. That is all...

  17. Is Samsonov finished ?

I agree for the most part. I also think that pretty much everyone here is a Samsonov fan, and while I don't think he should retire until he wants to, I didn't feel insulted at all. Still, I hope that some people might have benefited by my pointing out that the use of the term "retarded" is...
  18. Article: Ma Long Graduates At Shanghai University 2017!

There is no doubt that Jiao Tong university is one of the best in Asia. But they will do what is strongly "suggested" to them, and under Xi Jinping the government has reverted somewhat back to earlier practices, especially with respect to propaganda efforts. I am a huge Ma Long fan -- I like...

  20. Is Samsonov finished ?

In the US for quite a long time now the use of the term "retarded" is considered a slur (akin to racial slurs) and should now be avoided. That is what I think the complaint was about, not a criticism of the underlying idea that it is strange to want your favorite player to lose. People who are...
