  1. Zhang Jike & Timo Boll Knocked Out of Korea Open 2016!

Lots of interesting comments on this thread, and this is also true about ZJK's pattern. And in that regard, Andy Smith's remark about ZJK, "shows up at big events -- until one day when he doesn't" is also possible. But then the idea that the CNT is using these events as training vehicles to...
  2. Zhang Jike & Timo Boll Knocked Out of Korea Open 2016!

It's the way I would have calculated it if I was LGL.
  3. Zhang Jike & Timo Boll Knocked Out of Korea Open 2016!

That is the optimistic interpretation from CNT perspective.
  4. Is over celebrating a problem in table tennis?

In a post about my EJing he also commented that I had a surfeit of Viscarias (which is quite true). Respect for anyone who can use that word properly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Is over celebrating a problem in table tennis?

Me too, with a coach no longer here. Always made me want to ask him how WLQ or KLH or Ma Long ever won a match. Or Waldner or Persson. Some of this is intrinsic personality of course. Connors was who he was and Borg was who he was, and they were very different. McEnroe and Sampras are...
  6. Is over celebrating a problem in table tennis?

Since Harimoto seems to want to sound just like Bernadette Szocs*, he needs to also perfect her "mean girl" way of staring at the opponent. If he needs help he can also examine pictures of Posh Spice (Victoria Beckham) and practice staring into the mirror until he gets it just right. * You...
  7. FS: Butterfly Timo Boll Spirit FL blade

These old black tag blades are coming to be collectors items, TBS being one of them. And AN handles are rare, and this one is in very very good shape.
  8. Survey on travel costs/time

I live in a very large city about as different from Finland as it is possible to be, I suspect. My commute from home or work to my table tennis club is minimum 40 minutes, and longer at rush hour. It is about 25 km each way. Gas in the US is cheap, and I am not sure how to factor in wear and...
  9. Question about reflexes

The analogy to a foreign language is pretty good. Assuming you learned reasonably well in school, when you first get to the foreign country it just seems too fast. After a week or two, it just seems to magically slow down. Table tennis will eventually slow down. One thing to keep in mind is...
  10. Is over celebrating a problem in table tennis?

Yes, I get all this. Persson celebrates because Sweden has just beaten China. Something significant. It is normal, in fact sports would be diminished if people didn't do that. At the appropriate time. That is why I think the fine they gave ZJK was pretty absurd. But then there is what we...
  11. Question about reflexes

Also, you can try the Table Tennis Edge app. It develops your ability to anticipate.
  12. Is over celebrating a problem in table tennis?

I started to watch the Hariomoto match against Hugo Calderano and I had to shut it off. This is something relatively new and I wish coaches would stop this at a young age. Once in awhile on a big point it's ok. Or even at the end of the match. But on every single point you win, not matter...
  13. new human conflict situation

Best to just let it go. The guy never complained before. As for apologizing for nets? Just hold your hand up and acknowledge it. I don't care if someone apologizes, I just get annoyed when they cho over a net or an edge.
  14. Which poly ball should you choose?

At tt-Japan they are $30 per dozen and about $28/dozen at Paddle Palace. I don't see any place where one gets a cheaper price on buying in bulk.
  15. JediJesseS development, recommendations for slowing down

By the way, if I was your coach I would be most likely to say to stick with the Appelgren.
  16. JediJesseS development, recommendations for slowing down

Stop worrying about equipment and play. That is how you will get better. Pick a blade and use it. Both are good. Different but good.
  17. Best rubbers Timo Boll Spark

It is a pretty slow blade, and very soft. Keep that in mind. Might want to go a bit harder on the rubber.
  18. Why do professional players moan when hitting the ball?

Was just going to write this. Also, of course, it helps with timing.
  19. Dimitrij Ovtcharov vs TableTennisDaily's Dan! 1 set showdown!

I kind of had to laugh at the video because I have experienced it. I have played against several US team members and some Chinese provincial team members who are far from as good as Dima. They always make regular guys look really bad. It is hard to explain unless you've experienced it. The...
