  1. Classic TT Bundesliga Match from 1985: Borussia Düsseldorf vs. ATSV Saarbrücken

It's easy to forget how hard it was to control those little 38 mm balls!
  2. Rebooting rubbers

Rebooting your rubbers? On the bottom of your blade there may be a switch with a label that looks like this I/O. Push the button. Wait while your rubber reboots, it will make some beeps, and then you will be ready to go. My equipment is more old fashioned. Can't find a switch anywhere.
  3. Having trouble achieving fluidity in easy drills with friend

On my first ever visit to my wife's home town in China, in 2007, I got to take a lesson from the second best coach in the area and by far the best player, a former National team guy that nobody outside of China would have ever heard of because he never actually played more than once or twice...
  4. Tibhar Evolution is like Tenergy 05?

Oops. Well, correct in any case.
  5. Tibhar Evolution is like Tenergy 05?

I don't know if anyone else said this. EL-P feels a bit more like Tenergy 05 than MX-P, but MX-P plays more like Tenergy 05 than EL-P. Nothing actually feels all that close to T05.
  6. Ask Timo Boll a question on the TTD podcast!

It would be interesting to hear Boll's take on this.
  7. "Feel of ball", affected by thickness of plies/quality management or am Im Crazy?

By glue job, I just meant attaching the rubber to the blade. Different blades, different owners, differnet procedures, etc. COuld change the feel. But for all I know, they use different glue procedures to attach the plies together for the different models of blades. (I have no knowledge of...
  8. Ask Timo Boll a question on the TTD podcast!

When Timo pushes and returns serve, his forefinger seems higher up the blade than most other players. Has he always done that and is their an advantage to it and does he recommend that? Also, what is the most common mistake he sees in serious amateur players? What is the best way to improve...
  9. Desperate cry for blade advice

Try all the blades of your clubmates, find the one that suits you best, and buy one like it. Saves money.
  10. "Feel of ball", affected by thickness of plies/quality management or am Im Crazy?

Some blades are just better than others even when they are the same model. Things made of wood are not identical. Could also be the age of the blades, the glue job, or maybe you prefer one handle to another, or weight. In general they are quite similar blades. They do something to the top...
  11. Timo Boll ALC (88gr or over 90gr)

Heavier is better but these days hard to find.
  12. am I mentally disturbed?

Funny that I made the exact opposite move. I still like the ST handle and am playing better with it, but it turns out that there is a significant difference (for me) between a round-ST and a square-ST, and I very much prefer the round-ST. Actually, my order of preference at the moment is round...
  13. am I mentally disturbed?

Talk about crazy. I spend $500 on two custom made ST handle Viscarias from Butterfly. Wait three months in breathless anticipation. Finally receive them. They are beautiful absolutely identical twins. I sold them both a few weeks later because I can't adjust to the SQ-ST handle they put on...
  14. Rakza X on Viscaria or Timo Boll ALC?

On whichever one has a handle that you like better.
  15. Croatian player loses his sh#t

One thing for sure, very few people are born with the instincts and skills to play against a style they almost never see. Looking at the video of the first post, my guess is that is part of what is going on. When that happens to almost anyone, technical and mental flaws are systematically...
  16. Croatian player loses his sh#t

There were two aspects to the thread actually, starting with the first video. The first was that this poor young guy was completely unable to cope with what the old chopper was throwing at him for a variety of reasons (which including bad timing, lazy footwork contributing to his mistiming...
  17. Croatian player loses his sh#t

Not sure this would be so easy in our sport.
  18. Croatian player loses his sh#t

    This.
  19. Croatian player loses his sh#t

I think we should have a thread just of videos of players going out of their minds. Tough to beat this one.
  20. Tall table tennis players.

It's insane. he plays at my club so I have been on the other side of it a few times. So fast, so low, and one tends to block it into the net, and at my level, impossible to predict where it is going. Of course, I am not a professional player. Still, the one thing about him I notice is he...
