I don't think its mental. ARUNA played better than him. MIZUTANI could not do better. He had clearly less stamina, and doesn't move as well as he used to, he's much more easily pinned on his BH now and I suspect his eye vision problems are real

great match of ARUNA indeed, what a devastating FH ! and he's improved very much in other aspects of the game. I'm a bit sad for MIZUTANI, he's clearly not the player he used to be.

funny, Mizutani's coach is GC Foester I've seen him quite a few times in amateur tournaments in Tokyo, I've not played against him yet (he'd crush me of course), but my teammate played against him once (and lost)... and he coached a buddy against me, but i won :-)

I thought in the beginning of the 3rd, Ishikawa did very well to change to a slower pace, and be patient. It worked a bit, but then HE adapted. As usual, Ishikawa failed mentally, and tbh whenever BH/BH rally lasted a bit too long, she missed the ball (usually net miss due to backspin from LP ?)...
