That's an excellent summary of the current situation. I have spent a lot of time testing various types of balls and I agree with pretty much everything the OP wrote.

In response to Julien, one difference between European posters vs. Americans is that Europeans have very active leagues, and there lots of clubs with excellent playing conditions. In most of the US we don't have the same sorts of leagues (even where I live, which is something of a TT hotbed)...

As far as I can see, people have a lot of the some issues in the sport regardless of where we live. We are concerned with where to play, the nature of our equipment and where to buy it (and where to avoid), and the play of the top players and how we can get better. Also stupid things ITTF...
