Interesting!! The very reason I don’t want fast tensor on my bh is because I want to vary the length and pace. DHS rubber does it well.
I might give H9 a try when my H8 dies
The new topsheet tends to “bite” the ball and hold it longer than the previous generation. It also allows the ball to sink into the sponge with little power.
R47 used the old topsheet. R48 uses the newer thin topsheet. R48 may potentially “feel” softer than R47.
I played with R53 (also thin topsheet) which feels softer than a 39 degree H3
Xu Xin is not competing in this WTTC and unlikely in any major event. But he has not officially retired yet. Rumours in China said he is stepping up in the coaching role.
In China people say the topsheet is extremely thin, thus brittle. I guess that gives you the incredible feel. There are some reviews in Japanese but don't understand 😓
In major events such as the Olympic they used multiple cameras, especially in replay. I guess it all depends on the budget of the event. See the Mens final below (look at the third point), they used a high-angle camera but replay using a lower-angle camera
A few key points here:
TPB relies on the index and mid fingers. All other fingers must be relaxed
Contact as early as possible
Utilise your arm to push
Turn your torso to add more force, hence your left foot should be in front of your right foot (if you play with your right hand)
H3 is such a complex topic. I've used H3, TG3 and TG2 in different variants since for decades.
I only refer to the Neo version only. Non-Neo versions are harder to tell.
I had the same issue. The newer H3 (half tacky) tend to have this issue. The old very tacky H3 tends not to have this issue.
I have Rev Rejuvenator, it doesn’t work.
I prefer harder H8 on my BH. I use H8 at 39 degree. It’s a lot more consistent than my H8-80 37. H8-80 topsheet gets oxidised very quickly and lost its tack. It almost became a T64 kind of feeling. The sponge feels really good but too fast for me
I have played both H8 regular and H8-80. H8-80 is far lighter due to the porous sponge. But my H8-80 topsheet gets oxidised very quickly after two weeks
In contrast, my regular H8 is fresh as new after a month of use
I notice some players in the CNT have switched from Butterfly to W968 - Wang Chuqin, Liang Jingkun. Sun Yusha and Wang Yidi in the women’s team are also using W968.
I thought with the ABS ball BH speed has become the foremost strength in the sport? Hence w968 (designed for the FH dominant play...
