Sure. So a man who is willing to try new rubber to change his game and whose sole ambition is to get better should not be given the benefit of the doubt just because you don't like him? Go ahead. I could see the obsession and gave him credit for it, no matter the result.

Serve choice and spin explains that. He served long reverse sidespin into the backhand to limit the angle.

2017 is an amazing year for table tennis. Dima was a beast. Executed his strategy perfectly. Thank God for the new DHS D40+ balls. They don't play like eggs!

Germany clearly is training replacements, we have Fransizka, Duda, and note that most Europeans peak in late 20s. Fransizka mostly has injury problems but if he can stay healthy he has top 10 talent and power. I am sure there are others as well, Prause is a serious thinker.

Ishikawa beat Yang in 2014 as well. Ishikawa is good vs defence, if she can beat Han Ying, she can beat Wu Yang. The loss to the PRK defender was the heart breaker of her career.

  15. Backhand blocking finally clicked for me

Wish I could congratulate you but while it is okay for matches, blocking with topspin during most drills causes people to miss. You need to learn to block flat or without arc.
  16. German Open 2017

Ueda is a very underrated player and has been for a very long time. Doesn't make the Japanese national team but I doubt the team would perform much worse if he replaced Oshima for example.
  17. German Open 2017

Watch LGY first, when he is done, pick one one of the others.

Karlsson was the sharpest player I saw in the qualification round - the way he killed Gnanasekaran was just bloody. Boll better wake up and get crowd support.
  19. The New World Ranking System Explained - January 2018!

But you will have to qualify for round of 32 in most events. That is the part you are missing. I don't think the formula is right, but I am sure it can be adjusted if necessary.
