  1. Changes in Table Tennis

No, not necessarily. Lower level pips players often take advantage of the fact that their opponents are just inexperienced vs pips. I am not against pips play, but there is no point sugar coating this fact.
  2. Changes in Table Tennis

Creating nothing balls consistently with inverted at a decent level is a skill. Putting pips on your racket and just taking advantage of the fact that your opponent has never practiced seriously against them is not.
  3. China Super League 2016 (CTTSL)

Fantastic match. I think the Super League this year is the coming of age for the FZDs, LJKs, LGYs and YZYs.
  4. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

The story of my life. When I do it, no cameras are around. When my opponent does it, it is a rated match. Can't get no love... youtu.be/OtM6IgfPWIk?t=377
  5. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

Today was much rougher - went 4-5. Probably should have sat out at least one match, but our fourth player could not make it today so three of us played 4 matches, which should not happen and is the reason why you get a 4th player. If by some grace of God or more likely some accident I am still...
  6. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I thought she was having a bad day but someone else got a different vibe like ttmonster. For me it is hard to play kids with attitudes because these matches often mean far more to them than they do to me.
  7. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I was ordered by my teammate to remember that my backhand is the bread winner, not the forehand.

This one is for DerEchte - shows other people the kinds of personalities we sometimes have in US table tennis.

BTW, it might sound crazy but so far, I am playing better with the softer version of Karis on both sides.
  12. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I agree. When I coach a player who is weaker vs a stronger player, I don't even bother with tactics or footwork per se. All I stress is proper attacking table tennis and a relaxed mindset. Proper table tennis is to look for the first opening, play the ball outside the power zones and test...
  13. Jab/Shovel Service video

What they mean when they say deception is more important than spin is that sometimes, you can generate a lot of spin but if it is obvious, the returner might compensate easily for it. It doesn't mean that the serves are not very spinny - they clearly are. But in this case, it is more a light...
  14. Sharing A Good Video of ZJK's Pendulum Serve

Some of them do have a backspin orientation. There is one earlier but the one at 2:24 is pretty strong. The trick is that you can still serve heavy side backspin with a vertical looking paddle if you know what you are doing. Anyone with the TTEdge app can see signs of what is possible with...
  15. Play-style Tips!

The opponents I hate playing most are the power loopers with heavy spin and pace. It's just annoying to deal with heavy topspin balls relentlessly making me move and block long. I like it when the ball slows down as my knees and my mobility are not as heavily challenged.
  16. Play-style Tips!

I tell people all the time - I built my 3rd ball skills by practicing against beginners not by practicing against better players. The next step is to develop some serves that even better players will return passively and then you can use some of those shots.
  17. Sharing A Good Video of ZJK's Pendulum Serve

Maybe the backhand tomahawk. But even then, it is easier to get good spin on those serves than the reverse pendulum. Many pros don't do the reverse even when they are competent because they don't like the amount of spin they get.

You still have work to do pulling under the ball. You seem to want to mimic an advanced player swing but in all honesty, and don't take this the wrong way, you need to appreciate where you are in the process and reduce the moving parts to the absolute minimum. You are combining a lot of things...

The outermost ply is a soft Anigre. Not sure about the inner plies.
  20. Weird playing style

There was even a rematch. The pips and aspects of this 2300 guy's game are under rated. A two winged attacking looper would likely do much better against him because he would probably make the guy back up and chop more often. But our weird guy blocks too much to challenge him and the pips...
