  1. Balls for training

I bought those XSF a few times. They are a good deal. Kingnik is another good deal. Nowadays, I pay for the Yinhe from a US Supplier (Cole). The Yinhe 2* seem decent as well though I have to test them a bit more.
  2. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

So I left off yesterday saying I was going to play the league today. Well, work kept me in late and I kept wondering whether it was worth the 45-50 min drive to get late and not warm up well before playing. I went back and forth with myself and just decided to bite the bullet and play. I...
  3. Need Help in 3rd Ball Attack Against Long Pimp

First of all, there are different levels and styles of long pips users just as there are different level and styles of inverted users. I tell people all the time that TT is too complicated to learn if you try to do everything at once. So don't. My advice in my first post was to OP to get...
  4. Daily Table Tennis Chit Chat

I played and coached again yesterday, largely using a relaxed version of a grip I used earlier last year as well as a focus on fading rather than hooking the forehand on practice shots. I worked with my temp student on relaxing his shots. I am not so much trying to change his game as trying to...
  5. Need Help in 3rd Ball Attack Against Long Pimp

Read the classic article by DTopSpirit first. http://www.gregsttpages.com/articles3/53-articles/long-pimples/87-long-pimples-for-beginners Then watch the video below and get a practice partner to just use long pimples to return the ball off the bounce and practice what you see.

  7. European Championships 2016

The only thing that Lebesson did here that was surprising was play his high risk table tennis more consistently over the period of the Euros. He has probably beaten every player he had played before at the Euros at some point or another. Sure, consider that showing up out of nowhere, but if...
  8. European Championships 2016

Not at all. Maybe if Lebesson had won this match, then we wouldn't be discussing this :).
  9. European Championships 2016

At the WTTC in 2015. None of those matches took place at the WTTC in 2015. Would I have picked Lebesson to win a major title? No. But watching him play in the French league and for France, is there a player he can't give a good match? He is tough if you are not used to him. That's my...

    How do you know?
  11. European Championships 2016

I hear you. His stroke is very shallow and sometimes he looks as if he is hitting the ball more than topspinning it. But in any case it will be interesting to see his blade close up. These websites do tell us that Dima is using Bluefire...
  12. European Championships 2016

It's really supposed to be about how precise the rubber is when you swing hard. I wouldn't be surprised if Lebesson's stroke is taking advantage of something else because I have been fascinated by it for a while. He seems to spend a longer time making contact with the ball than many typical...
  13. European Championships 2016

Lebesson was French champ in 2009 and has been a permanent fixture amongst the top French players for almost a decade. He is not a new quantity and this is the way he has always played. The French in general with a few exceptions are charactericed by non standard technique and creativity. You...

I didn't play today so I will discuss what happened yesterday. I taught the last of 4 classes for beginners. At the same time, there was a college TT event at my club. It was hard teaching with the noise and the limited tables but I did my best. There were also some good matches, most of...
  15. Donic Bluefire JP01 vs JP01 TURBO?

You really should join mytabletennis.net as well. The serial EJs in the US post there.
  16. European Championships 2016

OK. If we believed such things without seeing the actual paddle, we would think Dima was using Bluefire.

Where did you get this information?
  18. Cleaning rubbers

Rubbers are manufactured with oils. Some people rub oils into their topsheets or their sponges for extra effect. I get the idea that random or uneven oil/grease might make a rubber inconsistent, but the idea that it is bad for rubber doesn't strike me as sound.
  19. Cleaning rubbers

Sure, but it might be a function of the rubber as much as the process. I used tap water and my fingers when I used Big Dipper and the most important thing in my experience was to use the protector sheets. My rubbers were easily as tacky as Bobpuls was. People can buy all these cleaners, but in...
