  1. Why Do We Let the Returner Control the Pace?

Ma Long goes through the routine both when he is serving and when his receiving.
  2. Should aerial get a faster blade?

As someone who had to spend a lot of time rebuilding his game so that he could break 2000, and is now spending even more time rebuilding some of my core strokes so that I can have a solid base going forward, I will say this - the earlier you start playing the right way, the more experience you...
  3. Why Do We Let the Returner Control the Pace?

Yeah, you probably don't watch enough ITTF matches then. Petr Korbel, normally a fellow of sound mind and judgment, was actually pretty pissed at Ma Long at the Austrian Open a few years back. Of course, at the tour level, people can get yellow cards for this kind of stuff. I've played a...
  4. Why Do We Let the Returner Control the Pace?

Yeah. And by the looks of things, we have built a culture of table tennis players who like this kind of stuff.
  5. Should aerial get a faster blade?

I know as much. I was just pointing out that if we ever met at a tournament, we could hit and you could fix it. You do some of the right things when the ball is easy, but the more frustrating shots are when you get into position and then give the ball a love tap because you are scared of what...
  6. Snake Serve by Brett Clarke

IT's the one I return to the most often, that's for sure. That's probably true for all William's BH topspin videos, but I have plagiarized the point about the backhand loop giving you 4 returns for the price of one for a couple of years now.
  7. Snake Serve by Brett Clarke

Happy that I can finally reference this video to Non-TT Edge members who think that on Chinese players can play banana flicks!
  8. high and low throw rubbers

You all sound much more dorkish than you look, and in a good way too.
  9. Should aerial get a faster blade?

If you were playing at Lily this Saturday, I could help you fix this in person. I remember I told you that for your degree of movement, you are very underrated and I can see that it is clearly because you don't have real strokes. With real strokes, you could gain about 300 - 400 pts from your...
  10. Should aerial get a faster blade?

The only reason you could consider changing your blade is if you are love tapping because it is too fast for you. But that would mean going to a slower blade not a faster one. But your issues are nothing I couldn't fix if I spent 5 minutes with you showing you how to loop correctly.
  11. Wrong Services ? Boosters ? Prohibited Pips ?

Manufacturer profits being pushed back into ITTF rules through licensing fees and advertising. Boosters are too cheap and can be used on cheap rubbers. Some of the best boosters don't even need to be bought - some people would be okay using baby oil. Not enough money vs. $80 Tenergy.
  12. Should aerial get a faster blade?

Arrgggh... can't edit... You can also keep your current blade... your real issues have to do with unfocused technique and soft contact. Your strokes are not punchy - they are more like love taps. You don't push your elbow through your power strokes so you are left with floppy light wrist and...
  13. Should aerial get a faster blade?

Get a Tibhar Stratus Powerwood and use that until you are closer to 2000.
  14. Why Do We Let the Returner Control the Pace?

I have always wondered about this - why does the server always have to wait for the returner to be ready, even if the returner is taking a ridiculous amount of time? Shouldn't there be a maximum time between points for umpired matches at least? Or will that just cause trouble as another...
  15. Evolution MX-P with Virtuoso + or V'King

Can you feel it, Can you feel it, Can you feel it!!!
  16. Wrong Services ? Boosters ? Prohibited Pips ?

The ITTF already allows booster oils. They just ban them because they want to make money of people who follow the rules and buy new Tenergy rubbers every month.
  17. Unbelievable Back Shot By Carlo Rossi!

I used to think this shot was impossibly difficult. But having worked on shoulder rotation while moving with my forehand, I can see how the right backswing feeds into this kind of stuff as well as the fact that many table tennis players are used to hitting the ball without looking at it. It's...
  18. high and low throw rubbers

Casting pearls of wisdom at swine...
  19. high and low throw rubbers

I think people are overestimating what it means as a post. The advantage Der_Echte has is that he speaks two table tennis crazy languages well enough to follow the technical videos of high level players like Werner Schlager and Kim Jung Hoon. Part of the reason I post so much video is that the...
  20. high and low throw rubbers

You are being assimilated, my friend.
