  1. Women's World Cup 2013

I agree, if she had been able to follow through and win this world cup then she would be in the same position as Zhang Jike was, holding all 3 grand slam titles at one given time, it would have been a great achievement for her ESPECIALLY considering she also succeeded where he failed in winning...
  2. 2004 Olympics Athens

You know something I never noticed about Athens before is that the silver medallist in the womens singles was actually North Korean. Crazy eh?
  3. Women's World Cup 2013

I voted for Liu Shiwen because I think if there is even a small possibility of further injury then Xiaoxia will withdraw and I ain't giving Wu Yang my vote haha
  4. Jorgen Persson Oh Sang Eun training

Sigh chances of winning NZ Open = ZERO. Why? Oh Sang Eun is playing lol
  5. World's Longest Rally Record Broken 2013

I don't even know what to say lol 8.5 hours...I can't imagine how mentally painful that would be but good on them haha
  6. Coaching

A lot of the coaching course stuff for ITTF level 1 is technical based but it's so basic and about organising and planning sessions etc. As a coach who likes to invest more time in a small number of students I prefer to take more of a mentoring role and just try and share as much knowledge as I...
  7. 2013 Men's world cup invitation list

Exactly as above. Xu Xin is there as the winner of the Asia Cup and ZJK as world champion.
  8. Coaching

I did the ITTF level 1 coaching cert in 2011, it's probably the easiest to work with across different countries if you are coaching internationally as it is I suppose a 'global standard'. The level 1 course is quite basic but also includes a segment on coaching para players which is really...
  9. Which was/were your biggest achievement(s) in table tennis?

Oh, I was wondering why that interview was sounding familiar then I got to the describe the players bit and realised it was my interview :D hehehe
  10. Which was/were your biggest achievement(s) in table tennis?

Haha yea Prause is a knowledge house man, Peter Karlsson is quite similar. Belisar I'm not too surprised that he found Guoliang harder to play than Waldner. Remember Rosskopf was a 'power looper' by label and Guoliang was horrendously fast, I imagine Waldner gave Rosskopf a lot more time to be...
  11. Which was/were your biggest achievement(s) in table tennis?

Actually now that I think about it meeting Werner Schlager and Susan Sarandon are probably both pretty big achievements for me, both through the world hopes programme where I was the national coach for New Zealand and later Yang Lun Zhao after he made the World Hopes Team. Dan you look so...
  12. Which was/were your biggest achievement(s) in table tennis?

Just playing for my country, can't beat that achievement until I become World Champion :P

  15. Butterfly's Amicus Robot

haha, I wonder. Well done boys it's a great vid ;)
  16. September World Rankings 2013

Haha yea I duno if that opportunity will arise again just yet. I'm sure given her results she probably isn't that concerned. I think she will win the national games too so it will even further define her right to be in the top spot though of course it won't count. I'm just puzzled as to how Liu...
  17. Donating your equipment

It's a great idea. I donated some tt stuff to Renz in the Philipines a wee while back and he put it to great use :)
  18. What is your playing style and what kinds of players do you tend to lose against?

I'm a 5th ball player, I like to have a bit more time so I open at about 70% pace on the 3rd ball and then play hard or place hard on the 5th ball. I usually tend to lose to people who have strong tight games or counterloop early in the bounce.
  19. September World Rankings 2013

Agree, great review. In terms of Ding Ning I think a shocking reflection of the inaccuracy of the system in this case. Call me biased for being a fan of Li Xiaoxia, but to win an Olympics, then a Worlds, then the China Open and beat the world number 1 and two on a handful of occasions across...
  20. The Late-Developers of Table Tennis (Do they exist?)

I know Sarah Her-Lee only started playing when she was 14 years old quite late.
