  1. LOKI Glue and Booster

Supposedly the orange glue doesn't have any booster oil mixed in, while the purple one does. I found it pretty cost-efficient for what it is, although I could never find the exact right amount to apply.
  2. How long does rubber last unopened?

? There's plenty of factory boosted Chinese rubbers. They even talk about it in their official materials. I'd be wary of stocking up on rubbers, especially during sales. Often sales are made when rubbers are nearing their shelf life. They might sit in a warehouse for half a year, a year, maybe...
  3. Best Chinese sticky rubbers that don't need boosting

I've only ever seen the purple packet one being sold as "Medium Hard" and "Medium Soft". If I had to guess I'd say 40A and 39A based on what the others are.

All the coaches for my level do around here is block and feed multi. I already do that for free with some of the better players. Many players even at a decently higher level come to the same conclusion and just stop paying them after a few sessions. I won't completely knock it before I try it...

@jk1980 My estimate is that my playing level is at most 1200 USATT (but probably lower), or Division 7 in Australia. I'm sure on a bad day it can dip into 8 as well. I've gotten told I can't really play in 9 because it'd be unfair to the opponents, so at least I'm not at the very bottom. :)...
  6. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

It's context. You're not there with me for 4-5 hours to see everything I did. Even today when we did manage to film most of it, we couldn't get all of it. You just keep putting words in my mouth and assuming what things mean. You gotta stop that. Could you (in the chit chat thread) reply to the...
  7. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

Could you quote to me the part where I said my aim is to give my partner a lower spin ball that is more manageable to him? I'm pretty sure I specifically said that the aim is to give a slow high spin ball, and that it's pointless to give shots with more overall quality because he's not ready for...
  8. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

Yes. He can't get a single normal shot back even in drills. Although his specific issue in games is anyone who loops slow to him will usually get him to pop it out, and the people around his (our) level don't really loop with power anyway. Even the division 5 guys barely do. I'm not hitting...
  9. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

I'm not *trying* to hit through the sponge at all in any of the videos I've posted. My opponent has major issues blocking heavy spin and slow shots so we're working on that. You're right though that it's not the right shot for most of those returns which are high and mild. Of course once in a...

That's what I tried in the beginning when I started playing again. If it had made any difference I'd still be using "easier" setups. I will probably try something "easier" again some time whenever the EJ bug bites me again. Filmed a lot today, but I don't have time to upload everything, so I...
  11. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

I can rally for 40, 50 balls in drills. Maybe 30 if they're loops. You act as if I haven't tried "easier rubbers" and became disappointed when they didn't see and decide how to hit the ball for me. :)
  12. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

What makes you think my hit rate would even go up with an equipment change, apart from the occasional lucky net shot that barely made it over? It's not the rubber swinging at the ball.
  13. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

Sure, I'd land 1 or 2 more a game if I used something softer; and then I'd never learn to consistently accelerate through the ball because I'm just letting the rubber *barely* fix the issue. I'd rather just use what I know and fix the issue.
  14. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

My current sheet of H3 blue sponge is almost indistinguishable from D09c. It's not tacky basically at all. It'll lift the ball for maybe 0.1s. Whenever I hit with D09c there's zero adjustment whatsoever. I'm sure there's differences but it's shockingly close just at a surface level. I'm...
  15. The Perfect Forehand Doesn’t Exist—Former China National Team Player Explains Why

What equipment were you using? I've found the whippy wristy swing is just fine for rubbers like Rasanter, Hybrid MK, Tenergy or Dignics, but it's almost useless for H3, B2 etc because the speed isn't high enough and there's probably no spin benefit at all. Although my forearm and wrist whips...
  16. DHS Hurricane 3 Neo: The Complete Amateur Guide & Review

FWIW with the plastic ball it doesn't seem like tackiness is a great tradeoff. Coefficient of friction is always between materials, and it's not linear. The rubber and ball interface have load and speed sensitivity, so a large % change at low load and low speed might not be very much at all at...
  17. What causes this serve to bounce in different directions?

It doesn't matter where you hit it on the rubber apart from that further from the closest pivot is a faster speed and generally more spin/speed. What matters is what part of the ball you hit it on and what direction the swing is going.

Mine's really dark and no lines. 2.15mm. DHS has a ton of OEMs making sponges, so there's no single one. EDIT: This sponge is also a NIGHTMARE to peel glue off of. It just doesn't want to unstick. It never comes off cleanly like with other sponges. Wasn't a training session on today, but I...
  19. The Perfect Forehand Doesn’t Exist—Former China National Team Player Explains Why

I thought this was obvious. As long as there are different kinds of humans, there will be different kinds of optimal biomechanics. Of course technical theory is an empirically observed reality so everything converges in some key points.

Mine is the non-Neo one, so no lines and very "dry" feeling, a bit like G-1. Stiff and hard. It doesn't really react to one layer much at all, but curls a lot after 2. Has been my experience with all H3 and B2, although B2 is a bit stiffer. Consistently I get about 1.5-2.0deg softening per layer.
