  1. 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, 9/19-10/4

A great day for the Japanese men. I am annoyed though at the Olympic organizing committee for dropping men's and women's teams in favor of mixed teams. The Japanese men would have had a very good shot at winning gold if the men's teams event was continued at the LA2028 Olympics. In any case...
  2. 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, 9/19-10/4

Most likely SYS would be 3-0 against either Mima Ito or Miyu Nagasaki. Miyu hasn't won a game against SYS in their last 3 meetings. Last time she won 1 game was 2017. At a minimum, playing Hina will provide intel for the Olympics as Hina is most likely to make the team.

Super Saiyan Tomo put his team on his back
  4. 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, 9/19-10/4

Feel so bad for LYJ. He had chances and poured his heart and soul into the match.

With the SC Astana title in hand, Miyuu Kihara will leapfrog Ito and Yokoi in the rankings. She becomes the 7th highest ranked Japanese woman behind Harimoto, Hayata, Odo, Sato, Hashimoto, and Nagasaki.
  7. Hitomi Sato

This point is just pure defensive genius. Look how low she gets. Even WYD had to give a wry smile.
  8. Hitomi Sato

Only other Japanese woman that I know of that's beaten Ding Ning twice is Mima Ito.... so a very exclusive list.
  9. Hitomi Sato

Brick wall defense is a good description. She has now taken down both WMY and WYD. I think she saw Honoka's amazing rise to the top and said to herself maybe I can do that too. Her great performances recently gets her a coveted entry into the China Smash. I'm also very much looking forward to...
  10. WTT Star Contender Astana 2026 (15 - 20 September 2026)

Wouldn't surprise me at all if the losing streak ends, but it does present a bit of a stumbling block in Hirano's run for making the Olympic team. Satsuki still has a pretty tight grip on that 3rd spot, but we'll see what happens in the coming year.
  11. WTT Star Contender Astana 2026 (15 - 20 September 2026)

Good to see that Satsuki Odo has evolved from 2 years ago.
  12. WTT Star Contender Astana 2026 (15 - 20 September 2026)

Good effort from Hirano, but she's now lost her last 3 matches against Odo and has not won a single game in any one of them.
  13. WTT Star Contender Astana 2026 (15 - 20 September 2026)

WD Finals will be a mostly Japan affair. Hashimoto / Diaz took out China's Qin Yuxuan / Zong Geman in the QF. And Hirano / Kihara took out WYD / Han Feier in the SF. Hirano / Kihara are going for their 3rd WTT WD title in a row.
