Wow, this thread escalated beautifully! 😂 Just for a second, let’s bring it back to the original post…. We are talking about an extremely uncompetitive club DOUBLES match. That’s about the least important/competitive matchup you can get, only just beating a back yard outdoor match at a family...

Perhaps the initial "setting of the scene" was wrong (or misleading), but in my 20+ years of playing, I've never been at a "club night" where the competitive nature is to the point where you can't have a laugh. Maybe us Brits are just overly sarcastic, but if you don't say "Ohhhhh...

It might be a culture thing, but over in the UK I'd be amazed if these comments weren't happening every single night across the country. It's so common, and to be honest, at a "club night" (not a formal league match or tournament), this would be considered a pretty mundane comment! Why do you...

Timo Boll. The Table Tennis Roger Federer. Not necessarily from an achievements point of view (although these weren’t exactly bad!) but from a class, respect, ability to adapt in later career and just pure genius point of view. An absolute pleasure to watch and a real shame to the...

What a great video! Thanks for sharing @d3nium For most of us, I imagine we have been in situations where we feel the other person is serving illegally. A lot of the issue I see is that people aren't confident enough to actually call them on the illegal serves. Perhaps they don't know the...

Am I the only one that thinks Tenergy 05 is possibly the worst choice for a returner to the sport? It's the least controllable of all the rubbers mentioned, and is very sensitive to spin. It's absolutely still a rubber that can (and does) compete at the very top of the Plastic ball era - I'd...

Ahhhh, the old GOAT conversation. I think there should be rules on this, like Gozo said..... But if you did that, you'd only ever get one answer that couldn't be debated. GOAT for me will never be about statistics alone. Federer will forever be my Tennis GOAT. Why not Djokovic? Who is the...

This is part of the problem - All these little comments which makes it seem like pro's are using magical unicorn based equipment that is so incredibly different from what us mere mortals can get..... It may be different.... But who knows how much. I think it's white, but WOW..... That man...

That's a really easy comment to make online with no supporting evidence though (which is my point). I think I struggle to really understand the methods behind it all - Unless there is some significant cost barrier (for the manufacturer), why not make the "best" rubbers available to all...

OK, I do trust Tony. @Tony's Table Tennis - I'd genuinely love to know more about how Butterfly produces custom rubber specs for Pros. How different are we talking?

I don't think he's a blatant liar. But from a scientific comparison POV, there is absolutely nothing to go on here, and certainly nothing that makes me believe there is a difference.

You're basing your opinions on that? I have no idea who Pricey11 is, and this is in no way a dig at them..... But there is absolutely zero I can take from that "review". We have no way of knowing what Pricey's level is (he could have been a beginner for all we know). After a couple of days of...

I personally think the whole "pro" vs "commercial" thing is massively over analysed. I've played with a DHS blade designed for one of the top pro's (don't ask me who, I can't remember, although I did comment on here about it at the time). There was just no difference to my eye/hand - Perhaps...

I don't believe the Pro's are using Butterfly rubbers that are much different to the commercial rubbers for sale. Sure, they might have the pick of the rubbers (weight, where they were cut in the sheet etc), but until someone comes along with hard evidence to show otherwise, it's all just myth...

I completely missed this gem of a comment. Do you not find it odd that Pro's will change their *new* rubbers after 1 or 2 matches? I think what you are finding is that after 3-4 weeks of hard training, the rubber might feel a little slower and less spinny, so it's possibly easier for you to...

Absolutely. It's the same reason I take my Driver out on every single Par 4 or 5...... Holding on to the hope I hit an amazing 300+ yard drive down the middle of the fairway, when in reality, I'm more often than not looking in the trees 😂

I think the issue here is that anyone who describes the Viscaria as “slow”, without providing a hell of a lot of context to that comment will come across as inexperienced. There just isn’t any world where the Viscaria is slow. Can it be slower than other blades? Of course. Can the lighter...

It’s all relative though. And the ability of the person is question is more important than any analysis of the rubber here. Let’s take a decent UK Local League attacker (I use this example as I can speak from first hand experience). If they asked me what I thought between Tenergy 05 and...

The problem is, it could be like a learner driver who has just bought a Ferrari, and is asking for advice on how not to crash! 😅 All the advice is “hypothetical”, we have no idea how good he is, and the best answer might simply be to move away from D05.

All of these threads are very hard to judge without video context. D05 is a very advanced rubber and would be hard to control for a lot of people who don’t have the skill/experience to use it. My advice to a player who DOES have the ability to use it would differ to my advice to a player who...
